They also arranged amazing outings for us, including a tour of nearby tea plantations, a beautiful waterfall hike, and even a chance to go horse riding. One of the highlights was the Sri Lankan breakfast, which they cooked specially for us. It was absolutely delicious and made with such care—it really added a personal touch to our stay. Overall, the service was genuine and thoughtful. We’re so grateful for everything the staff did to make our visit special. We stayed at The firs for our honeymoon, so the very first days as a couple it was the best place for us. Special regards to the cook who cooked delicious food we had sumptuous food it was tasty and hygienic also. It was home away from home. Maskeliya is a market town which could be lot more .The hilly terrain is a planners dream. If you are into budget travel and want a genuine local experience, NanuOya is a good town to visit. It’s very close to the main tourist town Nuwara Eliya (approx 9km away) and has buses heading there every 20mins. You can also get there by train. The locals are very helpful and kind. You get a few places to eat food like South Indian dishes and koththu and a few places to buy liquor from. There are two waterfalls and the larger, wider one located inside the Glassough tea estate is a place where you can bathe in on a sunny day. Pack warm clothing, as evenings and mornings can be chilly. Carry an umbrella or light raincoat, since showers are frequent. Do not climb on Saturdays as you will most probably not be able to reach the top. It was over-crowded and the path is narrow the last 500 meters.
