Ample space with lounge area, 2 comfortable beds and a long balcony. Also, spotless with great decoration and crisp bedsheets. 2 AC units, Staff and owners were very helpful. Modern bathroom with shower cubicle and a jacuzzi bathtub. Very clean. A decent new swimming pool. Cooked us delicious dinner which we loved. Hotel overlooking a beautiful river where we watched speed boating, jet skiing and other rides. We also went on boat safari. Stunning views. Very near to Aluthgama Bus Station. We love it. Will go back.

I absolutely loved this small hotel! It’s simple, but its location right by the beach makes it truly special. Waking up to the sound of the waves and enjoying the ocean view was amazing. The atmosphere was peaceful, and our host Sashi was so friendly and welcoming. Every day, we were treated to a different delicious breakfast, which made our stay even more special. Plus, we could always count on Sashi for help—such a kind and attentive person! This hotel is a true hidden gem by the beach. Highly recommended! :)

I recently stayed at a hotel Ocean Breeze Cottage during my vacation, and I had a wonderful experience! The room was nice,Clean and included a balcony with a stunning sea view, which made my mornings extra special. I went with my wife. Very authentic Ayurveda center with 7 rooms. The doctors are very knowledgeable. We have done Ayurveda many times in srilanka and this is one of my favorites. The cave meditation , art theraphy and beach yoga were very special to us. My wife is a Doctor and she Loved it. 🥰

Everything about our stay was simply perfect. The room was spotlessly clean, very comfortable, and all the facilities were excellent. The view from the property directly overlooking the beach was breathtaking and added a special touch to our trip. I would like to give a special thank you to Dinithi, who went above and beyond to help us when we had an issue with the Booking.com system. We were extremely tired after a long journey, and her immediate assistance made a big difference. Also, I had one of the best experiences ever with late checkout at this hotel — something I’ve never encountered in such a smooth and generous way before. Roshan was incredibly helpful and supportive, making sure all our requests were handled efficiently and kindly. A heartfelt thank you as well to Lasantha, who took excellent care of everything needed for my elderly parents and young children. His professionalism and warm approach truly stood out and made us feel very well looked after. Highly recommended for families and travelers looking for comfort, care, and beautiful views. Our stay on the Yathra Houseboat will always stay in our minds and hearts. This is our second time within 3 years. We had a vacation of our life with all the comfort and pampering by the staff on the boat. The cruise on the river provided rare glimpse of few exotic birds and a large group of monkeys. The narrations by the Manager of the Dedduwa Boat House about those birds were very informative. The Skipper was kind enough to stop along the river bank to watch the birds closely and take photographs. The candle-lit dinner and the night spend on the upper deck was simply magical. The next day my husband even managed catch some fish while cruising. The staff arranged them to be prepared for our lunch and that dish was out of this world. The staff went an extra mile to make us happy. The bedrooms and the facilities on board were above standard. This is the best destination we spend while in Sri Lanka. Keep it up Yathra and we will back again next year.

the stuff was friendly, especially the restaurant service and two bartenders: Buddhi and Kanishka - they were always happy to see us and ready for a quick chat. We also loved the pool guys, they were very helpful :) I loved the beach, overall the facility, and the good vibe. Also our room was great: with mini fridge and balcony. What is important the AC was working flawless! The wifi is very strong and fast and is working even on the pool area or by the beach. The garden is very well maintained. There was a live music almost every evening, so we used to enjoy it with some books in our hands. Overall we recommend this place and we would gladly spend there another week!

We did not venture into Bentota.

We did not venture into Bentota. We are expats living in Colombo so no need to explore the city. The hotel was at the right spot for a 100% relaxing weekend away with no distractions. The ocean is not that swimmable as the sea was very rough and looked dangerous. The pool was a welcome alternative. We drove to Galle for the Saturday to watch the game between Springboks and Kiwis. That was not too far, one hour away and a very scenic route. The hotel was also fully booked so must be popular.

Aluthgama is a reasonably quiet town,. İt offers a bustling shopping area with plenty of local shops that provide the necessities of life without the over abundance of tourist style outlets. Local transportation as in tuk tuk are plentiful and very cheap. İt is surrounded by beautiful open spaces showcasing the areas natural beauty. İt is however a two hour drive to Colombo airport.

Not many food options in the area. Beach is okay not great. Ocean beyond the reef is very rough, no real swimming area. Area is also not very upscale, compared to other areas we have been to in sri lanka.

My favourite place was the turtle hatchery. Most meals were eaten at the Hotel. Very easy to get around. There is a tour agency opposite the hotel entrance, it cant get any better than that. It is easy to take tuk tuk or van taxis. Superior beach front view. Beautiful gardens and swimming pool. Well done to the management and staff for this top class facility. Local fishermen were easy to approach and social chat with.

Villa 252 Kosgoda, With its beautiful sandy beaches. Not too busy and very pleasant to stay and lots to do in the erea. A visit to the Galbokka Sea Turtle conservation is very worthwhile! Or a wonderful massage at the Aryuvedic center. Or take a boad safari at the Maduganga lake. The General Tsunami Photography Museum in Telwatta is a must see if you want to know more about this terrible event. From here a trip to the 'Ducht Fort' in Galle is also recommended. In short, Kosgoda is a beautiful place to start or end your Sri Lanka trip…

Stayed at Thaala Bentota recently and had a pleasant experience. The location is excellent—right by the beach with easy and direct access, making it perfect for a relaxing getaway. The hotel itself is well-maintained with a calm and welcoming atmosphere. The breakfast buffet was a highlight, offering a good variety and fresh options. Dinner buffet had fewer choices in comparison, but the quality was still decent and satisfying for the price. Overall, a very good place to stay if you’re looking for beachfront accommodation with good service and a peaceful vibe.

Lovely place to relax. Large beach. Not many restaurants on the beach and not as populated with tourists as other areas we visited, but we loved spending time in Shah Shah's and found a sun bed to relax in with an umbrella. Also recommend Pier 88 to eat out in near by Aluthgama, lovely river views and good quality food. Also recommend Kandoori if you fancy a bit of Indian cuisine. We didn't do many day trips as we had already done some in Mirissa but we did do a boat safari that was pleasant enough. Great location if you want to be relatively near to Colombo and the airport. We mostly relaxed by the pool and had Ayurvedic massages so recommend finding a nice hotel with good facilities. Worth a visit.

Ahungalla is a little village, hence to see places around...

Ahungalla is a little village, hence to see places around you need bus or tuk tuk services, they run on main road all the time. We loved Bentota - a resort 20 min on a bus - it had calm beach and cafes to eat/drink around. Just outside Bentota there is village where you can get good shopping for clothes, gifts etc. Galle is 50min drive on a bus from Ahungalla. It's a lovely historic place to visit. We liked Ahungalla as it's less busy/noisy than other towns, and the villa we stayed was 5min walk to the beach. There is a good supermarket for basic items.

We stayed at Janus Paradise restaurant cabanas it was fabulous food was amazing lovely clean rooms , staff extremely helpful . Food was delicious, pool clean , we arrived during the Sri Lankan new year and was given a beautiful meal for breakfast , it was just lovely. Hotel owner Janus very nice and came to sit with us during our evening stay had a great laugh together what a wonderful host
