Well located. Walking distance from Sigiriya rock. Very green and lush property, lots of plants around has a small pool in the middle. Local eating places provide decent food. Excellent breakfast. Both Manju and Namidu were great hosts. Good value for money. Big bedrooms and bathroom. Two double beds.

We had a great stay here. This place is brand new so the rooms are clean,bed is comfy and shower is great for a cheap price relative to what you get. They have a pool also, which is critical as sigiriya is very hot and you need to cool down sometimes. Breakfast had everything you need, The staff was very attentive and friendly. The location is good, not that far from the rocks and has restaurants in a walkable distance Wifi signal was a bit slow

This was the perfect place in the quite remote area of Sigiriya. With only 4 rooms, the staff was very attentive. Bernard (owner/manager?) helped us set up a tuk tuk as well as a safari to Minneriya National Park. Room was clean, air conditioning worked well. Pool was a nice touch, and the food at the restaurant was good as well.

The Sri Lankan couple that operates the hotel are some of the most kind, generous, and helpful people I’ve met. The homemade meals are generously portioned and served with love. They helped me arrange tours to the nearby Minneriya National Park and also helped with scooter rental. When I had an accident with the scooter, they were attentive and understanding. But best of all, the value you get for your money is incredible. The hotel rooms are spacious, the pool is nice, and the location is just 20 minutes drive from all the tourist activities in the area.

Stuffs are soooooo friendly, they were always smiling and making me feel energetic and refreshed. kings inn was really like a home in Dambulla, with peaceful and beautiful environment surrounding. They even gave me a free ride to the bus station and made sure I got on the bus! The room is very clean and spacious. The washroom is very clean too, and spacious! Love this place! On a month long trip to Sri Lanka, filled with beautiful places and accommodations - the Cottage holds a special place in my heart. We spent two amazing days here, and later in our trip we decided to go back for 5 more. From the kindness of the staff, the excellent hospitality, the pool that was somehow always the right temperature, the location in nature and all of the life that surrounds it - we had a perfect stay. The gentleman that cares for the plants, pool and grounds works all day making sure the place looks great and the pool is always clean. The chef makes great food, and the Sri Lankan breakfast was excellent. The location is a short bike ride from town, or if you have your own tuktuk as we did it’s about a 5 minute ride. It’s in the midst of the jungle. In our days there we had encounters with every type of bird in Sri Lanka. Monkeys of all varieties. Even Elephants. The near by lake, which you will drive by the signed path to, is a must at sunrise. Walking further down the road into the farmers fields (stay on the road, don’t walk on their crops) will yield incredible sunsets with peacocks calling in the background and a clear view of lions rock. Bungalows are simple, clean and comfortable. The staff went out of their way to ensure we had a great experience. We will most certainly return here in the future and highly recommend it to others. There is more to see in Sigiriya than you think, and a couple of days at the cottage is a great base to explore and relax. Mama, the local dog running around is very sweet. If you’re a dog loving traveler as I am - take care of her and show her some love. She’ll keep the monkeys off your tuktuk 😉

They went above and beyond by arranging a complimentary pottery class and one-on-one yoga classes in addition to the 2.5 hours of daily personalized ayuverdic treatments. I was also able to enjoy nearly every meal in a different scenic spot on the beautiful Ayugiri property while observing fireflies or wild peacocks. Also, the rooms are so lush and beautifully designed with relaxation in mind! The staff were incredibly accommodating and gracious. And the ayuverdic treatments really helped my skin issues and helped me relax after a crazy travel schedule! Thank you for such special stay Ayugiri Team!

    Nimal the property manager and his staff were great during our stay, and overall, we felt very taken care of. When we had trouble getting a tuk tuk via pickme/uber to get around, Nimal would help us get that sorted. No matter how late we got back, they'd always have someone waiting for us in the main concierge area to make sure everything's ok and get our breakfast order. When Nimal learned we were traveling to Ella on the day of checkout, he informed the kitchen staff and prepare a snack (delicious AND amazingly packaged sandwiches and bananas) and water for our travel. We'd stay here again!

    It is exactly what it says - offering a real experience of a night in the jungle. Friendly staff, offering simple but good quality Sri Lankan dinner at a very reasonable price. An added bonus is that it is only 5 minutes walk from the entrance to Pidurangala Rock, which is a ‘must’.

    There is so much more to do in this area than I realised.

    There is so much more to do in this area than I realised. I will definitely come back. The area is beautiful and we were sad to leave. We dud Pidurangala Rock which was fun, more of an adventurous climb than Lions Rock. It has incredible views of Lions Rock. We also did a safari in Minneriya National Park. The park was beautiful and we saw so many elephants plus lots of varieties of birds, golden jackals, monkees, mongoose, the grizzled giant squirrel, buffalo and jungle foul. We also went to Dambula Temple Caves which is very spiritual and Luckgrove Spice Gardens which was an incredible experience. Highly recommend this area.

    We chose not to climb Sigiriya (having just recovered from Adam's Peak!) but instead chose the much shorter Pidurangala which afforded a fabulous view of Sigiriya. Highly recommended. A visit to the Bawa hotel, Heritance Kandalama, is well worth it as an insight into the brilliant architectural mind of Geoffrey Bawa.

    A beautiful place on earth that there are lots of 360 degree view points. But if it rains it will ruin your plans. So make sure you depend on weatherly and visit Matale when it shows many continuous sunny days. Even on cloudy forecasts do not visit as all mointain tops then will be covered and you will not see the sights. when it is humid leaches also will be active and will become a painful experience.

    A nice hike to view a breathe taking view. If anyone should travel to Sigiriya they should start to climb the rock at 5.30am as the ticket counters open. Wearing proper hiking or workout clothes would be the best.

    Dambulla is an excellent base for exploring Kandy, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya. We stayed there for 4 Nights and could cover the heritage sites easily. Dambulla Caves are a must-see and so is Sigiriya (just 16 Kms. away). Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa are around an hours drive but Dambulla is much well-connected and less touristy.

    Mainly there are 10-12 attractions in Matale.

    Mainly there are 10-12 attractions in Matale. As I just stayed one day which was not sufficient to visit all the places. Among them where I went were also hampered due to the rain at time to time. Generally Matele was quit good tourist destination if it is planned well with couple of days.

    Sigiriya is stunning and has a lovely village charm to it, compared to the tourist/backpacker mecca that is Ella. There are plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from but it somehow doesn't detract and Sigiriya still feels very local and true to SL values.
