Without any doubt, best hotel in Tissa. This was the best hotel in our trip to Sri Lanka and we were in 7! within 2 weeks. The room and the bathroom are huge. The staff are so kind are they are always willing to help you to do your stay more confortable. Just everything. Really nice apartment, specially equipped for western turists, with hair dryer, toilet brush, drinking water, big room and bathroom, with big patio in front of the room, plus swimming pool. What else can you wish more. It was the best experience during my trip in Sri Lanka. Big bonus was also Janaka, resort manager who organized Safari in Yala for us.

Thank you to the family which provided us this unforgettable stay here in Tissa. They are so friendly and helpful. Furthermore, very clean room and nice view over the lake especially for sunrise. The room was very big and we felt very comfortable. The safari the owner provided was amazing, we saw many animals. We did a sunset tour. To mention: I twisted my ankle some days ago when we were hiking in Ella and the owner of Double Lake View Tissa went with us to a hospital and drove us to pharmacy. This was so kind. Also the food was very nice. Overall, this stay was one of our best we had in Sri Lanka, we would definitely come back again.

    We stayed at the leopards nest for 1 night and it truly was an unforgettable experience. After reading some mixed reviews, it exceeded our expectations and I am so happy we planned this into our itinerary. The hotel sent driver information which we shared with our driver and everything was seemless. The safari truck was waiting for us and we did the afternoon safari. The guy was great, really knowledgeable- we were lucky enough to see elephants really close up and many other amazing animals. He then took us to the hotel around 6pm. We had a bbq dinner which was very cute, the food was really good quality too. We booked a sky nest and had a couple of little frog visitors in the bathroom but we didn’t mind, they added to the memories! The sky nest was really clean and more comfortable than we were expecting. WiFi only worked in the main restaurant areas but that’s okay, it was nice to be off the grid for one night. Again, breakfast exceeded our expectations and the hotel liaised with our driver for a smooth pick up. The staff are lovely and I fully recommend for one night if you want a safari and jungle glamping experience.

    My exhilarating trip to Sri Lanka was an incredible experience that will always remain in my memories. The pristine landscapes and beautiful nature of this country captured my heart. However, what made this trip even more special was our stay at Laya hotel. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and also the place was very comfortable and quiet at night. We happened to be there during Sinhala and Tamil new year holiday, and we decided to stay an extra night to celebrate with them. We participated in their games and festivities, and it was a great new experience. We were even honored as special guests on the second night to stay in their brand new caravan. Special thanks to the hotel general manager (Mr.Wasantha) and his deputy (Mr.Dulaj) for their hospitality.

    Very nice eco kind of place. Clean, calm and situated in the countryside. Ok restaurant but could be a little improved, I would say a 8/10. (Please see the Flavors restaurant nearby to see what is a 10/10) although the pankakes for breakfast were absolutely amazing and also very good birnyami. Very nice safari with a really experienced driver really worth it. And the best of the best is the carrying manager. Doing everything so that we feel safe and comfortable. Awesome work!

    Tissamaharama is a fantastic base for anyone looking to explore the natural beauty and rich culture of southern Sri Lanka. It's perfectly located for Yala National Park safaris, offering easy access to incredible wildlife encounters. Beyond the safaris, the town itself has a calm, local vibe with beautiful lakes and ancient temples to discover. You'll find plenty of local restaurants and shops, making it easy to enjoy authentic Sri Lankan experiences.     Kataragama itself is a temple town and that’s pretty much it. Other than that it’s a jumping off point for safari in yala and kumana. One day is more than enough for cultural/religious aspects. The Perahara (pageant) in July is fantastic. Be warned that it may not start till midnight and may need pre booked tickets. Also watch out for pickpockets in crowded areas around this time. The country side and the rural life as well as the wildlife is fantastic and authentic. Quite hot and sunny year round but dec to feb is more comfortable.

    A great place to stay and would definitely recommend.

    A great place to stay and would definitely recommend. Large comfortable room close to the pool, with restaurant and plenty of cold beer. We were very well looked after and nothing was too much trouble. Anyone looking for a visit to the National Park should consider staying at Tringa and booking the tour with them as they will make sure you have a great experience.

    We went for leopard safari & it is in zones 5&6. Safari was excellent & saw one leopard & a bear! Hotels generally not near any restaurants so confined to your hotel for dining. Would not want more than one or two nights there.

    The owner of Serenity lake advices us to visit Yala safari, Sithul pawwa magul viharaya and sithul pawwa a super history with beautiful scenery, which we did and we're very grateful for his advice. We returned to the serenity lake to have lunch before heading off. Requested for a village kind of lunch with the local veggies and it was served on a lotus leaf... The most delicious meal it was. We had lunch at Reds and at the Serenity lake .

    I thought it was a different place to go for Safari. But, almost all vehicles come from Tissa for Safari pickup so it doesn't really matter if you book a room in Tissa or Katharagama for the Safari.

    It definitely is an experience worth trying.

    It definitely is an experience worth trying. The tree house has all the comforts you need but yet kept on the simple side. Don't expect much and you will get a lot. Nice food Bbq and big fire lit for you in the evening to give you a chance to relax and talk about your day activities. It was great to be left alone and the silence of the night. There were times you just felt that we were the only ones there and when you needed something the staff would magically appear

    We were extremely satisfied with the hotel and its beautiful surroundings. Everything exceeded our expectations. We took lots of photos & are sharing them with friends. The restaurants,Roof bar,Spa's and the pool side and pool is world class with out doubt! The service was outstanding, and that is something that can really make or break a vacation. Congratulations to the Super Proactive General Manager Mr Krishanta Damunupola and his team members to include Mr Seeman and Miss Sandani(Intern) for being so accommodating at all times with oodles of dedication. We also especially liked the super-comfy room with the balcony, bed linens which were very high quality, and felt so good to slip into each night. Thanks so much for a lovely visit.We'll be singing your praises for a long time. Thanks!
