Dunes, sandy beaches, aromatic pine tree forests, unique Curonian Spit nature, and bespoke old wooden houses in the small fishermen villages, amber, local fish food .. Certainly worth to visit this special place and to have peaceful, calm holidays at least for a week or two, visiting Nida and smaller villages like Preila, Juodkrante. For a longer stay, when it is around 25C in summer, it would be useful to change towels and bed linen in the middle of the stay. Our holidays 10. The drain of the water from the shower is slightly blocked. No balcony dryer. Armchairs not for summer. Every sweaty tourist in front of us leaned his back and there is the effect. Rusnė is a very beautiful old fishing village where you can still buy and taste fresh smoked fish. You can also rent a boat and sail to Mingė, Venta, Nida, and see the Uostadvaris lighthouse. I really enjoyed the unique architecture in Neringa, especially the traditional fishermen’s houses – they’re full of charm and character. The area was very green with lots of flower beds, which made it even more beautiful. Kretinga is a sleepy little place.
Kretinga is a sleepy little place. There's not a lot there, but the people in the town are exceptional. We were visiting for the first time as there was a family connection we wanted to investigate. The help we received from everyone was beyond our expecations; from coffee shop staff, to library staff, to the RC school director, to cemetary officials, people at bus stops, and one person we were put in touch with who we spoke to but never met who gave us some stunning information. We found the Britannija bar - the only bar in Kretinga, we were told. We had a great night with a few locals, in a language we didn't speak. We were going for Dolphins and sea museum but got surprised by how beautiful the rest of the city is. Especially, the riverside so busy with boats, vendors and cafes caught our attention.
