This place is a hidden gem away from the crowds of Playa del Carmen. Very quiet and lovingly kept surroundings. Large modern yet Mexican style room with a super comfortable bed. This was the highlight of our trip. The atmosphere is amazing, it is an oasis in the middle of the jungle. So quiet and peaceful yet very comfortable. Beautiful nature all around. Two pools, one in the sun and one in the shade. Also a free Mayan sauna. We had the villa which was amazingly decorated, water pressure very good. We received welcome drinks when arrived. You will have to eat at the hotels restaurant but it is very very good! Prizes are fair for the good quality and amount of food. Morning yoga so fun! And most importantly - the staff were absolutely fantastic and we felt so welcome and well taken care of. Iguana’s are btw a part of the crew. There is cenotes in the area you can walk to.

Breakfast was very good. The property is set in a jungle with beautiful lagoons and cenotes. They have an underground river in the caves, their free guided tour is highly recommended. Their tour guide Ganzolo was excellent, very informative and accommodating. He was ready to help in every way. I would recommend hiring a car before coming to the property, it is far from downtown so going to beaches or other restaurants is difficult and expensive. Staff was very friendly specially Louis and Miguel. They had a on the house pizza night with wine, it was very good. Yoga classes were also very good.

The best hostel I've ever stayed at!! From the welcome drink to delicious breakfast options, relaxing playlists, the unforgettable Temazcal experience they offer, and all very caring staff members... My experience at Botanica was one of my highlights of my Mexico trip. The kitchen was well-equipped and clean, if you're on a budget in Tulum it's a great advantage so you can cook at the hostel & there is supermarket nearby. If you're looking for a party hostel, this is not a place for you & but if you're looking for a spot to enjoy yourself and have long chats with other travellers accompanied by amazing cocktails Botanica offers, then you're in the right place :)

Overall - fantastic location to stay in Tulum. Location - exactly what we looked for - outside of the city center and touristy areas. Safe, closed neighborhood, new building with very clean, and quite large swimming pool in the courtyard. Very well equipped rooms, including kitchenware. Impeccably clean. Nice common area, very pleasant and friendly staff.

It's a tourist trap.

It's a tourist trap. Everyone is trying to sell you something, even young children (it's non-stop haggling). The beach is brown and smelly from the enormous amount of seaweed. Cancun or Riveria Maya are much better choices.

My FAVORITE cenotes were at Sac Actun and Ecopark Kantun Chi. Sac Actun requires a guide, but it's not as expensive as some of the other places. The cenote is beautiful and they provide you with wetsuits (which helps a LOT with the cold) and goggles. It was a very cool experience. Ecopark Kantun Chi has 5 cenotes but we bought the entrance that allows you to go 4 of them without a guide. For us, this was perfect because we could spend as much time as we wanted at each spot and they were all so different and beautiful. I loved #3, which was an open sky cenote with a waterfall and #4, which was a really cool cave with spots where the sunlight streamed in from above. We got to see some lobsters there too. Also a very cool feature is that there are kayaks in several of the cenotes so you get to explore them that way as well. Another cool spot was Languna Yal Ku where we got to snorkel in calm water and see so many different types of fish. I highly recommend wearing clothing that covers your arms and legs since sunscreen isn't permitted and you are directly exposed to the sun the whole time. For meals, we enjoyed traveling to both Akumal Pueblo (for some simple and cheaper meals) and Akumal Playa on the other side of the road for some more variety.

What a cool spot!

What a cool spot! We are definitely not the all inclusive resort kind of travelling family. So when we stumbled upon Puerto Adventuras, we were hapily impressed. There was so much to do within walking distance. There is a park, kids camps, beautiful beaches, swimming pools, amazing choice restaurants, and an overall really cool vibe. I liked it because although it felt like - yes this is definitely an international tourist destination - it also felt grounded and down to earth. In addition to the travellers who pass through, many people live and work in Puerto Adventuras giving it a really lovely family neighbourhood feel.

This hotel is not for families, it was way to much noise all night long drunk people scream in the hallways , our door was nock at 1-3 in the morning woke up our children age 2y, 6y, 8y. The staff were so helpless, unfriendly and rude. Every time we had to eat was so stressful cause the waiters will be so mad and we will ask for things like water they will take for ever to give to us. It was a buffe every time but water wasn’t available or even a spoon. They drop drinks next to ur table they didn’t clean it the whole breakfast we were there, i was so afraid any of us will fall down. Front Thea people never knew the answer. Overall we were so disappointed. It feel like a super cheap hotel, full of a lot of drunk people. I read bad reviews and didn’t payed attention but I wish I did. I’m not happy at all with this hotel experience and I’m not planing to eve go back. The ocean was the only thing was good about our trip.

Punta Allen seems to be a virgin place in Mexico. Not many tourists not many places like restaurants or shops. Its full of sargaso and at the moment properties cant deal with it and many of them are on the beach. But you can have nice excursions to see dolphins at the nature ,we took the fishers boat and went to see dolphins and turtles do some snorkel, kids loved it! But this place is far and the road is not good.

The main Playa del Carmen beaches ( Mamitas Beach, Pelicanos Beach and the one next to the Ferries are very very narrow as the sea is rapidly eroding them; thus there is very little space to sit and wherever you are, you will have locals playing loud music on their portable music players. A really beautiful wide beach with a jungle backdrop is the Coco beach which is about 2 miles long and easily accessible. The other very good beach is Playacar beach which is also long and wide but has hotels between the palms, the whole way along.
