I loved the historical feel about the hotel and actually Valladolid itself. The staff were amazing.....very attentive and friendly. My suite was I believe Ana Maria..... exactly like the photo.....very spacious room....if you like modern then it's not for you ...if you want to feel like your going back in time then its for you. The bathroom functioned well.....coffee facilities and refrigerator was great. Not far to walk from the ADO bus station.....great location....I walked around and found myself in some great local spots. Breakfast was lovely.....a must try Mexican Coffee really tasty. I choose half board so dinner was included.....really nice touch.

Rooms were nice, the staff was nice, had everything we needed from nice AC to a cup of coffee, not to mention the new addition of a vending machine for any snacks or drinks we may want. It was my first time at this hotel and, of course, Mérida, and if I ever come back, I will 100% be booking my stay at this place again!

We stayed for 7 days and wow !!! We had a blast! The property is very well positioned right across the beach with restaurants and cafes nearby . The owners went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and they even arranged our massages , restaurant bookings and transfer to Cancun !! It was so much appreciated!! The rooms are very beautiful spacious and well equipped (everything you need is there !!) and they cleaned it every day !! What can I say more : I will definitely come back and would recommend this place to anyway who wants to simply relax, enjoy the pool, beach ….

Our room was beautiful, mainly furnished with wood and bear materials. We had a small private back yard with a bench, and also a hammock in the room which was nice. Staff is helpful and kind. The hotel's restaurant is a great place to have dinner if you don't feel like going outside. Prices are fair and the food is really good. Breakfast is also ok. We prefer buffet over a la carte, as served in Colonte hotel, but everything we got was tasty.

The property is very close to the airport, which is perfect if you’re flying in on a evening flight. The staff are very friendly and would do whatever you needed. The restaurant is open until 1030 at night which was a real bonus after having not been able to eat on the way . I would definitely stay here again. The free parking was great too. They even helped me in the morning to find the closest grocery store before I had it on.

Check out the two light shows at the downtown church and the ex-convent. Both, unfortunately start at 9pm so you might have to catch them at two different times. For more affordable food options, don't bother eating at the Calzada de los Frailes restaurants. Most places are overpriced!

Progreso is just an amazing town.

Progreso is just an amazing town. If you have ever been to Puerto Vallarta, I think Progreso feels like PV back when Liz Taylor and Richard Burton were wandering around. A little less crazy busy, a little smaller, a little more town than city. People are awesome, the Yucatan culture is very present and it has a different vibe than the Atlantic side. The Gulf Of Mexico is truly a guilty pleasure. We spent hours in that warm bath water. Progreso has great people. great food, great sites, a great beach, and a wonderful Malecón/Boardwalk combo. The boardwalk side is on the other side of the Pier and it is also awesome with a different vibe. It has a local family feel and an amusement park. Just a great stay. Over all the stay was great, hacienda was beautiful staff was not the best customer service! Waiters were great receptionist were not attentive perhaps they made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome! Would I go again yes! Hacienda was beautiful, and I will definitely go back just because of the comfort, and I would like to spend more time to enjoy the pool and peaceful feeling. I would also go back to try the spa, si ce I didn’t have the time. If I go back and I receive the same customer service from receptionists might go to another spa!

This gem of a seaside village is my go to place to get away.

This gem of a seaside village is my go to place to get away. I love the fact that there are few foreign tourists and you get to experience a more genuine local culture. Although generally very safe during the day, make sure you lock up well at night and I recommend you find a private parking lot. I love the fact that the beach (all public - there are no private beaches in Mexico) is unpretentious without all the fuss (and charges) you get on the Riviera Maya. Local families just bring their umbrellas (or makeshift shade with old coconut leaves), their coolers, loudspeakers, dogs, and spend the whole day (from 6 am to 7pm or later). The beach is relatively quiet as groups are spread out and there's plenty of space. If you walk for 10 - 15 minutes on the beach you will find areas with no one in sight. The pier is a great place to sit and watch the sunset. It's a great place to rest and take long strolls on the beach far from the maddening crowds. You also won't find overpriced souvenir and crafts peddlers. I am disappointed that they don't serve a larger variety of seafood dishes in restaurants. All you find in most places are prawn, octopus and fish ceviches and if you don't eat lemon, you're in a pickle. This time I found some fresh oysters (small but tasty) but would have loved to have had some chargrilled fish or fresh clams. I guess there's just not enough demand. There are a few options though, including some vegan / vegetarian places.

We loved Izamal, it's such a beautiful city and the people are super friendly. Even the guy selling fresh juice in the town square was really friendly, yelling out good morning. Izamal is a visually stunning town as well, photographers will love it so don't forget your camera! And the food was delicious everywhere we went.
