FAQs about hotels in Melaka
Asia in a Nutshell
One of Malaysia’s smallest states, Melaka (or Malacca) has an important place in the country’s history. Home to one of the first Malaysian sultanates, it features a fabulous, replica sultan’s palace in the capital – Melaka City.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this sprawling city is a fascinating mix of architecture, including temples, mosques and churches dating back to Dutch and Portuguese colonial periods. Alongside more modern structures - such as Masjid Selat (also called the Malacca Straits Mosque) just offshore by Melaka beach - are ruins of A Famosa fort, wooden fishing boats, and traditional buildings in the Kampung Morten area, by a sharp bend in the Melaka River.
The city is also a rich mix of Asian nationalities and the Chinatown hotels near Jonker Street weekend night markets are particularly popular.
Melaka Airport is in the northern Batu Berendam suburb, and to the east is the Malacca International Trade Center in the small town of Ayer Keroh. Surrounded by lush greenery, this town also houses Melaka Zoo and the Taman Mini Malaysia and Mini ASEAN theme parks, featuring cultural events and reconstructions of housing styles typical of the Malaysian regions and south-east Asian countries.
Wherever you choose to stay, Booking.com has a great range of apartments, guest houses and hotels in Melaka to choose from.

- From US$85.53 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.2Good - What previous guests thought, 765 reviewsThis was my 4th time staying here. The villa or banglow were very spacious, clean, and you could cook. No washing machine. I suggest the management to put one in every villa. Swimming pool is clean. The workers were friendly and helpful. Action was taken very fast for any report or request asked. Can park about 4 or more cars. I like the design of the villa. 4 bedrooms. Aircon good. There are 2 aircon in the hall and every room has aircon. There are two types of beds. Single and super single bed. 2 rooms with 2 single beds and 2 rooms with a super single bed. You need a car to move about. It is quite a distance to the dearest town, Simpang Empat and Tampin. The Famosa Free Port is near by about 5 mins drive. Good bargain and lots of restaurants. Check-in was quite fast. Friendly staff. The villa is provided with breakfast for 8 people. During the fasting month, they will send our Sahur (food). There is no need to drive to the restaurant.Guest review byHajarMalaysia
- From US$114.30 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,155 reviewsThe hotel is very cozy and has a rustic industrial look. Simple yet beautiful interior. The staff are always with a smile and ready to answer any queries. The restaurant within the hotel serves delicious food. It is like 20mins walk to the Hattan Mall, Mahkota Parade and Datatran Palawan. From there it is just a quick 5 mins to Famosa fort. If you feel like walking, you can walk around and check out all other attractions. Safe carpark facility. A short distance to food places. The bed was comfortable. The room was a good size for my mom and myself. Will come again. ☺️Guest review byMaheshJapan

We found the people exceptionally friendly and helpful.
We found the people exceptionally friendly and helpful. The many tourist attractions are well-maintained, really interesting and all within easy walking distance. The city is known for its delicious food and coffee and does not disappoint! The Grab taxi service here is very reasonable, but you need to be sensible and get yourself out of the busy traffic jammed areas to meet your Grab, or you will lose precious time unnecessarily. Personally, I LOVE the contrasts of well-maintained vs derelict buildings, the vibrant colours of the buildings along the river, the busy vibe of the market and the music in the background while enjoying dinner in a beautifully decorated street. It is wonderful to see so many cats around - some sterilised and well-loved and others, sadly not. I would love for animal rights people to catch the exotic pet trader at the Jonker Street night market....Guest review byJuliaSouth Africa - 10.0

You need to take your time to explore and enjoy the abundance that they have to offer. some folks may say it a dead city. it all depend which angle you are looking and the expectation you have. by foot is mostly recommended where fine details and culture lied everywhere. friendly and helpful local are everywhere if you need assistance.Guest review byYKF - 8.0
The calmness of the town is unique.
The calmness of the town is unique. I liked the food they served in the shops, very authentic. Unlike the big towns in Malaysia, this little town has its own uniqueness in the food, the scenery & the peace. Its awesome for Nature lovers. Its like visiting our past in the late 60s/70s. The people there are so friendly.Guest review byLetchumySingapore - 8.0

Melaka is a popular historical country, wherever you go, you need to plan ahead. but dont rely too much on online booking, like for us, when we want to book for the Ayer Keroh Zoo,all online booking stated fully booked. but when we went there physically, it was available all the way. a bit frustated with the Zoo though, a lot of animal sites are empty or under construction, but the Dinasour Experience are the best, especially for kidsGuest review byAs - 8.0

Good food everywhere but traffic was congested during public and school holiday. It takes almost 1 hour for 5km distance driving a car especially in the city centre. Maybe should implement city without private car. Only for public transport and e hailing servicesGuest review byShasha ShilaMalaysia - 10.0
Near to the center of Malacca.
Near to the center of Malacca. Homestay was very clean and comfortable. The host was also very helpful during the check-in/out process. The process of check-in/out is very easy. Would recommend it for those who travel with friends and family. 1 bedroom with two queen beds can fit 4 people. Airconditioning, TV, iron, and everything are well-function.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0
A laid back town, with friendly yet respectful people.
A laid back town, with friendly yet respectful people. Food is abundant and reasonably nice, as well as priced. Seafood outlets are many, but if you are looking for western food, head over the Chillis Village Food Court. The beef burger, puts McD's quarter pounder to shame.Guest review byNahar JohariMalaysia - 8.0

Malacca will always be a famous and favourite place to visit and mostly during weekends and public holidays. I always bring my family on weekdays instead on the weekend to avoid the heavy traffic jams. The accommodation also excellent and always prefer to stay in apartment hotel.Guest review byNurhayatiMalaysia - 8.0

A location in older part of town, not far from historical attractions. However not in the proper Kampung Morten precint the locals know. Nearby scenic river walk. Public transport nearby. Historical kampung Hulu mosque over the river footbridge, 400 metres away. Resonable shopping in local shops. Further from upmarket plazas. Unfortunately, the footpaths in this location/general area are either non-existant or painfully uneven. Some shop traders have made a lovely entrance to their shop, but raised the footpath infront of their premises by upto 20 cm. Every 2nd-3rd shop entrance is different to the last...hopeless for a baby pusher.Guest review byMareeAustralia - 10.0

Melaka is an extraordinary place, with it's rich history very much preserved, while offering excellent infrastructure for visitors, including hotels, bars and restaurants. I was there during the week, and people do say that during the weekend the town gets very (too?) busy.Guest review byErikIndonesia
