- From $68.62 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Excellent - What previous guests thought, 39 reviewsLovely small independent resort that's been around since 1995, but has been beautifully and immaculately maintained. Alot of local wood is used everywhere, gardens with plantings The location is on the edge of Kundasan with a great view of the mountain. There is a large viewdeck to watch the sunset behind the mountain and surrounding range, and see sunrise as light falls on the foothills. Rooms are spacious with indoor seating area facing the mountain thru large windows. There's also a large balcony with seating to watch the view The staff are very friendly. The food is ok but tourist grade - best advice is to stay w standard Malaysian dishes and avoid western dishes. There is a separate bar that they will open for you, since the restaurant is halalGuest review byAndrewUnited States

It is an exotic city, offer many experience, it was nice to have the blend of a city but yet you can watch the fishing boats coming back to shore from their catch and visitors taking speed boats to island opposite KK, if you unit is sea facing, you can see this at your balcony while sipping away coffee, teas, fruit juice or even beersGuest review bySui YinMalaysia - 8.0
The old town looks old and worn.
The old town looks old and worn. Needs a coat of paint and touch up. Too many old and abandoned buildings but oh well, it’s the entrance town to get to the Kinabatangan for wildlife spotting and Sepilok for the Orang Utan and sun bears.Guest review byMonicaIndia - 8.0
Kundasang is truly a gem in Sabah!
Kundasang is truly a gem in Sabah! Surrounded by breathtaking mountain views and cool, refreshing air, it’s the perfect destination for a peaceful getaway with family. The scenic drive up is already a treat, and once you arrive, the lush greenery and serene atmosphere make it feel like a world away from the city. We enjoyed exploring local attractions like the Desa Dairy Farm, the Alpaca Club, the vegetable markets, and the beautiful gardens. The area is also rich in culture and history, with nearby memorial sites and traditional food experiences. One of the highlights was staying at a cozy homestay near Selera Kebun, where we got to enjoy authentic dishes like nasi linopot and gulai lemak cili padi rusa salai—a must-try for food lovers! Whether you're looking to relax, reconnect with nature, or enjoy local flavors, Kundasang offers a memorable experience for all ages.Guest review byZ0272Malaysia - 4.0

The place is not for everybody, very poor people, small homeless children playing and begging around, however I enjoyed the local experience. There is nothing to do here so if you are going for diving you are ok or for an island hopping tour that was very nice snorkelling.Guest review bySkabaCzech Republic - 10
Beautiful and great place to experience.
Beautiful and great place to experience. Enjoy the whole trip. We plan to return fit & strong to trek Mount Kinabalu. Don't miss out. Great place for a family holiday. Don't have to travel to Europe to gain such a fascinating view, Only be mindful, a lot of uphill if u wanna walk around. Great place for retirement if u love trekking n love nature. Love the attitude of road users. No hornGuest review byJulaidah MohdSingapore - 8.0

Most people go there to visit the orangutans sanctuary. It is excellent . Obviously they cannot guarantee animals will come to feeding platform, but when they do, you could spend a long time simply watching them.Guest review byAnonymous - 4.0

From what we saw, pretty much the only reason to stay in Lahad Datu is to catch a plane. We were there about 24 hours which was plenty. The airport is one of the smallest I have ever been to and was hot and crowded, but the plane was on time and got us to Kota Kinabalu.Guest review byKeri - 4.0
I wouldn't choose to stay in Keningau again.
I wouldn't choose to stay in Keningau again. It is a fairly grim place, noisy and with little to recommend it. I drove through Tambunan earlier on my trip which seemed like a much nicer place (although I didn't stay due to the lack of accommodation). The road through the Crocker range was good and worth a visit, but don't expect too much of Keningau itself.Guest review byGethynUnited Kingdom - 10

There is no other place like Tanjung Aru Beach in Kota Kinabalu when you want to observe sunset. It is iconic (but you need to disregard hundreds of people who want to enjoy the same :-). You can buy beautiful pearls in this town. You can visit Mari Mari cultural village from this town. It exceeded our expactations.Guest review byMiroslavCzech Republic
