- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 70 reviewsThe hotel is situated in a tiny picturesque village from the late 19th century by the Luster fjord, overlooking a fantastic view. It has Norway’s best breakfast with everything you may wish, and fantastic service. For extra luxury, enjoy a wonderful 4-course dinner prepared by some of our best chefs, followed by a drink and coffee in the garden. We stayed in one of the modern rooms, which has plenty of space and a nice porch on the lawn to enjoy the morning sun. This is a must see for everyone who just want to relax and enjoy the beautiful landscape. It’s not cheap, but it’s with it.Guest review byJonUnited Kingdom
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 141 reviewsThis is a fantastic location with some of the more interesting hiking and climbing routes in Norway, near the Jotunheimen Nasjonalpark. We choose the accomodation in the "Swiss chalet" and this allow us to save a lot of money :-) without losing the magnificence of the place and additional services provided by the hotel like for example the very good dinner (one of the best we have in Norway). The Chalet is really beautiful and extremely functional. Clean and full of services, like the shower and the drying room.Guest review byrodmcbanItaly
- From US$250.46 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 3,110 reviewsA very comfortable and convenient hotel. The breakfast offered a large and delicious variety of options, and the breakfast hall itself had a very atmospheric vibe. The room was spacious and clean. Despite the fact that the windows faced the street with the train station, it was fairly quiet. We traveled during the cool to cold season, but thanks to the self-controlled heating system, we felt very comfortable. The bathroom and toiletries were also excellent with no complaints.Guest review byAnatoliiPortugal
- From US$134.99 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 3,667 reviewsI was very impressed with the lunch box option - for small amount of money you get a takeaway box and can pack yourself a meal for later. Breakfast was delicious and we were so happy to have a healthy lunch sorted for the train ride back. Also I was positively surprised that they have a very easy system for shipping the items that were forgotten in the room. Hotel looks very nice. Everything was in walking distance.Guest review byHelenEstonia

Bergen is absolutely beautiful.
Bergen is absolutely beautiful. It is certainly worth noting that it is the rainiest city in Europe! But we did get lucky on our trip with a lovely sunny day. We stayed in central Bergen for 5 nights (6-11 October), which was a perfect length of time for us. Our apartment was on Grønnegaten, close to the Lille Lungegårdsvannet. We explored the city with its beautiful architecture. Restaurants/cafes are fairly expensive (coming from Cambridge/London, UK), but we stayed somewhere with a kitchen so ate in in the evenings. We walked up Fløyen (1 hour to the top from our apartment, very accessible road route) and got the funicular down (75 NOK one way). We also walked up Ulriken --- Google Maps took us a bit of a weird route (from our apartment to the Skyskraperen restaurant at the top of Ulriken, the walk went via Kolstien bus stop) that felt like we were going through someone's back garden (we weren't), but it took us about 2.5 hours total to walk from our apartment to the top. A more challenging walk with lots of water and a bit of scrambling. Definitely wouldn't have wanted to do it in the rain --- we got lucky with a dry sunny day. We got the cable car down (240 NOK one way). We also got the train from Bergen to Voss (536 NOK return) and the Voss gondola up the mountain (360 NOK return). I'd recommend all of these activities! It was also great that all the tickets could be purchased online and contactless/Apple Pay was widely accepted. Everyone we interacted with also spoke amazing English and was very friendly.Guest review byEmmaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A quiet village nestled at the head of a beautiful fiord with towering mountains all around. Excellent facilities including a bakery, grocery store, Mall of Norway and several restaurants, plus fast food outlets. Mini cruises available to nearby attractions, kayaks for hire and lakeside saunas. The most notable attraction is the world famous Flam Railway which climbs to almost 3000 feet a.s.l. up to Myrdal, where it connects to the Oslo to Bergen line.Guest review byAndrewUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Aurland is a quiet town with a well-stocked grocery and an excellent bakery. It is not a port of call for the huge Sognefjord cruise ships, so it is not overrun by tourists multiple times a day. By car, the town is 20 minutes from Flåm, 35 minutes from Lærdal via the Lærdalstunnelen (the world's longest road tunnel, at almost 25km), and 2.5 hours from Bergen. A refueling station is located just south of town, off the E-16 roundabout. It offers reasonable prices for electric vehicle charging and petrol/diesel fuel. And, it serves the best homemade soup in the area!Guest review byWilliam JenkinsUnited States - 8.0

Voss is very easy to reach by train or bus, and it's very well connected. There's a cable car to whisk you up the mountain, and from there there are walking paths over the fells, and to ski lifts. There's also plenty of nice places to walk in the town and buses to take you to more remote places to walk. The town has some nice places to eat and drink, but it isn't overly touristy. It's an excellent base for visiting Sognefjord and Flåm -- I did a nice circuit on train, ferry and bus and packed a huge amount of gorgeous landscapes into a day.Guest review byRichardUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Vickinghaug is set amongst incredible Norwegian fjord scenary. It has the other point of interest in that there is a, no longer functioning in its original capacity , factory in the middle of the Fjord. Because it poses no environmental problems any longer. This factory gives the Fjord an interesting historical relevance. The proprietors are obviously always improving the function of the accomodation to suit lots of different styles of travellers. We stayed in a three bedroom, self catering apartment with views on both sides. We had a drink in the evening looking over the lake and the waterfall and dinner at night looking over the Fjord. The walks in the area are popular because they are so full of natural beauty and thus attract many hikers and campers . The town felt slightly off piste from the over used tourist pathways which suited us perfectly.Guest review byRosemary SusanAustralia - 10.0

I visited Sogndal as a starting point to travel to Urnes Stave Church. The little town was a welcome change from the busy life of the big city such as Bergen. The weather was cloudy and rainy, but a walk on Fjordstien was a lovely pastime.Guest review byV.AtanasovaBulgaria - 10.0

Olden is a beautiful little town next to Loen with drives and outdoor acitivities galore. We stayed 2 days and could have stayed at least 2 more. We did the Skylift, ate at Hoven, drove to the Briksdal glaciar and the Kjenndalsbreen Glacier. Loved it!Guest review byBrasel - 10.0

Bergen was an amazing place with beautiful nature, warm people, great atmosphere, and plenty of attractions—I would definitely come back. We took a boat trip too Flam one way and Flam train on the way back. It was an amazing experience. Unfortunatley we could not visit to many museums as they were closed on Monday.Guest review byDorotaIreland
