- From US$157.50 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,590 reviewsWe loved our stay, the room was very spacious, the kitchen well equipped and the shower is great! Everything was perfectly clean and the garden is beautiful. Easy communication, they replied my messages on Booking.com in a timely manner, and were so nice to attend my request to provide a baby's high chair, as we have a little one travelling with us, which put our mind at ease that he would have a proper and safe place to eat. We really appreciate that! Easy check-in and check-out, close to the lake and just a stroll to the eateries. I'd definitely recommend it to all my friends going to Te Anau 😍Guest review byAna LeticiaBrazil
- From US$229.65 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.9Good - What previous guests thought, 868 reviewsMy family and I really loved the hotel and the Family Suite. They did not wish to leave as we feeling so much at home. The location of your hotel is also one of your greatest assets as it is so picturesque and set in a breathtaking location. Te Anau being the gateaway for Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound, and Otago is also the icing on the cake. We have a tremendous and fun filled time. Thank you so much. We are looking to return in 2 years time.Guest review byAlvinFiji
- From US$136.64 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 643 reviewsGreat stay, convinient sleeping, friendly staff and housekeeping. The room has a good size, the bathroom is good, the beds are perfect for a relaxing sleep. The amendments for breakfast are as expected, so having a coffee, toast and whatever you purchase on the toast was very sufficient for me. The town is within short walking distance and I will return againGuest review byAxelGermany

Te Anau is a beautiful town, set on the shores of a lake, with close access to Milford and Doubtful Sounds. The main shopping centre offers lots of different restaurants and take away options. There is also a big supermarket for supplies. There is a lovely gift shop in Te Anau, as well.9Guest review byNarelle PattersonAustralia - 8.0

We drove our hire car from Queenstown and stayed just the one night as we had a Tour booked the next day on the boat. We enjoyed the drive and the stunning scenery on our trip to Milford Sound; however, if you are short on time, you can FLY straight out and do the Boat cruise in half a day. If you drive down- it's an ALL-DAY event and that is why we opted to stay overnight and travel back to Queenstown the next day. There is only a CAFE in the town for quick food and coffee etc... There were limited places to pull up on the trip to have a meal. Lots of scenery and a long drive but enjoyable if you like car trips?Guest review byKARENAustralia - 8.0

Tranquil town away from the touristy hubbub of Te Anau but within range to catch the tour to Milford Sound. The Church restaurant served excellent meals at a reasonable price. Probably best suited to tours to Doubtful Sounds, but we did not mind the 20 minute drive to Te Anau.Guest review byLesCanada - 10.0
What a delightful little town!
What a delightful little town! The glow worm caves were an absolute highlight, especially with the stunning waterfall inside—such a magical experience. The town is clean, walkable, and full of charming little shops and scenic walks. Plus, the grocery store was top-notch for anything you might need. I highly recommend visiting this hidden gem!Guest review byElaineCanada - 10.0

Staying in the Sound is special - it is a very short drive (minutes) to the cruise departure points. It's about 2 hours drive otherwise from the closest town to the national park. You are immersed in the environment and you need to be flexible in regards to weather - we had several road closures (can't leave the park), rain and significant snow fall at the Homer tunnel area. The Lodge did a good job of communicating the various conditions.Guest review byKirstyAustralia - 10.0

Manapouri is a breathtakingly beautiful area with a quiet restful atmosphere. There is a lovely restaurant nearby and other food outlets. Lots to do in the area too. There are the day and overnight trips to Doubtful Sound, a stunningly beautiful area that will blow your mind. You do need to book ahead for these trips. There is also glow worm caves, alpaca farms, Kaykaking, tramping and more. Do your research and enjoy an amazing time in Manapouri.Guest review byLornaNew Zealand - 10.0

We ended up staying at the Tasman holiday park, the bed was so much more comfortable and the manager there was so lovely. Te Anau was a great spot to see the glow worm caves, which was our highlight and we drove to do the Milford sound and it was a beautiful drive, which took about 2 hours both ways. There’s some lovely cafes and restaurants, gift shops and supermarkets. The bird sanctuary to se the Takahe was also a great stop.Guest review byJacqui - 10.0

Can only recommend to drive to Milford in the morning spend the rest of the day in Milford and do some short walks. Next day do your boat trip etc and enjoy nature. Drive back the following day. A 2 night stay I would recommend to make most of this beautiful part of the world.Guest review byAndreasGermany - 6.0

Manapouri is a very small, lakefront town that has a beautiful view of Lake Manapouri and the mountains beyond. It also has a fantastic cafe/bar/restaurant called The Church, which I thoroughly recommend. However, don't stay at the Manapouri Lakeview Motor Inn if you can avoid it.Guest review byMeredithAustralia
