Thinking of staying in Wellington…don’t skip past it off the ferry and use this place as your base just 30 mins outside the city and its night and day compared to accommodation in the city. The hosts were lovely and very helpful, there were actually birds singing (and feeding) just off the porch! The rooms and layout is very nice, one of the best places we stayed in on our month in NZ! Great recommendation for a restaurant (the Waterfront was v good).

CanadaThis is a perfect little spot in a quiet beach town. Our only complaint is due to a very late ferry, we arrived rather too late to really enjoy it.
Sandy was very accommodating with a late check-in, sending clear instructions on how to access the suite at night, and providing prompt communication.
We arrived even later than expected at 1 am and we were so grateful to find such a cosy, clean suite. The bed was amazingly comfortable, and it was incredibly quiet outside. We appreciated the breakfast items (croissants, yogurt, cereals, fruits, toast, coffee, tea, milk etc) and the shower was amazing.
There are lots of nice touches (games and DVDs in the shelf, extra blankets, lovely shampoo) and there is a cute private patio to enjoy. Free easy parking right outside.
And to top it off, it's a short walk to a spectacularly long sandy beach for a morning stroll!

This one I walked in at instantly felt at home and very happy. Not only was everything spic and span physically but also energetically. There was no sense of many people having been there. The space was clean and clear and spacious just for us. I will always remember this feeling. The decor was bright and light without creating any "imprints" on the mind. Even the soap was not your every day soap but of high standard. The sun shining in over the mountains in the morning created a sense of 'all is well'. There are excellent curtains should you prefer the dark. We stayed here on the way to the south island to be close to the ferry. There is the hum of the motorway way off in the background which did not bother us at all, and I am highly sensitive. The quality of this place, its energy and its setting in the rolling hills I cannot recommend this place high enough, and myself would always come back here when in the area. Paekakariki is a town located between Wellington and Paraparaumu and is easy to get to. There are cafes in Paekakariki but I self catered for my stay. The beach there is great for walking along and so is Queen Elizabeth park, the entrance not far from the accommodation. House was great. Good view of the sea. Spacious. Warm and well equiped. Wifi didn't operate initially, but sorted that out by turning the Wifi off and on. Really good house to hire. Bachcare let us down completely and it took an age to find we had been given an incorrect password to the lock box. The owners do well. Bachcare not so much. A beautiful, relaxing setting where you can either sit back with a good book or explore the walks in the area. Remember to pack a hat even in winter. Very comfortable beds.There is a BBQ and 2 place gas burner. There is a smallish oven which is part of the wood burner so plan your meals. Will definitely be going back. All in all it was a very good experience staying and I would stay there again. The unit was nice and clean and the staff were very welcoming. The local Indian restaurant is the best Indian food I have ever had and the service was exceptional not to mention that the prices are very reasonable. We tried to get into the Thai but it was fully booked. We went to another restaurant down by the beach which was upstairs but it was so noisy that it was to hard to hear.
