United KingdomEverything was delightful. The house is actually bigger than it seems from the photos. The sun hits the kitchen and warms the whole house pretty much. Feels very nice. The kitchen has everything to cook in, but there are also restaurants nearby and a good supermarket just around the corner. We found the best lamb sausages there... :) The rooms are good size, beds comfortable and shower with great pressure. A lovely place to stay long-term. It is within walking distance from the beach and a short drive from Katiki Point Lighthouse, where you can watch the seals. The internet was great for work. We would love to return and see the birds in the backyard. The hosts were very welcoming and took the time to come over to hand us the keys. Definitely, one of the best places we stayed in NZ.

I liked exploring the river and would have fished if we had stayed. Food at the local pub was good, we didn't try the steaks. There are lots of families who go to Kurow camping for the water activities in the lakes. There is a newish wetland to explore, and others like to cycle the area. How tidy people's property's. Super friendly people. Good food. Lovely works to the beach. Four square store well stocked, and easy to get around. I loved everything about Waianakarua. The scenery, energy, the big spacious outdoor space was beyond me. The room I stayed in was dry, warm & safe. The owners were lovely and accomodating checking up daily on us. It’s a great stay of a spot for individual travel, couple travelling & also for families. The beach ( Campbells Bay) was just stunning for walking and a quick dip. Very sheltered. Loved chatting to the locals at the market, the dairy and the owners of Kakanui Tomatoes. Not much to do in Oamaru, will recommend visiting the quaint museums, Oamaru heritage museum (pay/donate as you wish) and steampunk museum (NZD$15/pax). both were interactive and we enjoyed it with the helpful stuff. the day was a cloudy and rainy so we opted out of visiting the penguins - they have a live youtube stream of the penguins coming home which we watch. We did visit the penguins tour during the day, which was open to public and saw some fur seals relaxing. To watch the penguins coming home, it's NZD$45 per pax, which we thought was a little expensive. + the weather being bad, we decided to watch them online instead.Guest review byVerenaSingapore - 10.0

Often overlooked as a passing point to more exotic destination, this little stop over town has a few worthy attractions; the Clay Cliffs, the Ahuriri River, the Hot tub and the Glider rides etc. It is also near Twizel and Lake Ohau too.Guest review byJeremyAustralia
