Everything, the hotel is very clean in esch single aspect. The staff is unique, very kind and available for any request. Breakfast: you have 4 choice of breakfast, everything is prepared at the moment and it’s delicious. You have a pool where you can relax, a park for your car and the position is close to the centre and closer to the beach (100 mt from playa Jaco). They offer different kind of excursions, I kindly recommend to enjoy a surf lesson with Julian, he is very empathetic and a professional. The place is very relaxing and I kindly suggest you if you need a break from the city and from your life:) I’ll come back for sure in Jaco and once there I’ll stay again in hotel Amavi, for sure! Ah last but not least, price are very affordable !

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at Hotel Bamboo. Giselle (sorry if this is incorrect spelling) was an amazing host. Always making sure we had everything we needed and serving us a hot tico breakfast plus fruit, coffee & juice both days. Wifi & AC was very good, pool was small but nice to cool down and sit beside to read our books. Bed was very comfortable, room was clean. Good parking out front which is very close to the rooms. Easy 10 minute walk to town & beach. We would definitely stay here again!

Property was amazing set in the side of a hill with lots of vegetation that provided shade and beauty. Lots of monkeys right on site and even some sloths! Quick jaunt downhill to the beach. Lots of restaurants on site that they will shuttle you to, or many others to choose from a short walk away. Rooms are eclectic and fun. Our efficiency unit was small for 4 people for a week, but we made it work. Kitchenette is handy and well stocked with dishes and utensils for its size. Loved our outdoor entry - complete with table and 4 wooden rocking chairs.

The apartment was spotlessly clean, the staff was very kind and attentive, the location is good - not in the center of the city, so you don't hear the noise in night, but close enough to beach, so you can walk. The pool is very good maintained and not very crowded. The small pool at the balcony was an extra plus.

    We just loved this park.

We just loved this park. In a little more than a ½ day we walked all the trails except the closed one. We stopped for an hour in the café -- which is enclosed in a cage to prevent the animals from coming in! That was the first time I had a drink in a cage. The trails are great and we saw lots of wildlife on our own, including a toucan and a sloth (only saw it on our way out!). The beaches are beautiful too. The only issue is parking. I can't tell what's official and what isn't, and at the hotel they warn you your car can be damaged if you just try to park wherever rather than in their lots. We parked somewhere and paid (talked him down) but I'm not sure it was official. No issues with our car though. Highly recommend this park!

I go there to do dental work at Crystal Dental, as their prices are 2-3 times cheaper than in the USA and the quality is better, they speak English and have German equipment. I do not care about touristy stuff, I did it on my first visit many years ago. You can take buses for daytrips. Tours with agencies are very expensive and geared for young athletic people. I wish there was a sightseeing tour for the whole day on a bus to take pictures without any hiking or horse-riding.

If you like cooler temperatures, rainy & windy mountains in remote Costa Rica then this is for you. Its a unique experience to be that high up above sea level and theres plenty to do outside between coffee tours, ziplines & hikes. But in terms of the town itself, theres not a lot going on and its expensive but I guess thats what you pay for tranquility & remoteness. And if you're driving up there you better have a 4x4 or AWD vehicle because the majority of the roads up here are unpaved & windy AF. Spots to check out that made our trip: Don Juan Coffee Farm, the Butterfly Sanctuary, El Tigre Waterfalls, Kinkajou Night walk, 100% Aventura Ziplines for the longest Zipline in Latin America & lastly tree climbing at Finca Modelo. If you want to try authentic Costa Rican food (because hello why not!) skip out on the expensive restaurants and go to Pizzeria 3R y el Sazón de Mary - best part is that they're open late. Food was bomb! Overall, I wouldn't spend more than 2.5 days up here.

Preferably visit on the whale watching season, and reserve a tour days before so you not lose the chance of this lovely experience, I recommend Bahía Ballena Kayaks & Tours. This is basically a cruse ship harbor and not much to do in low season. A few bars and stores open. A lot of tour is not given due to no crusie ship arriving in this time of the year. Also, extreme weather resultet in that most tours from Puntarenas was cancelled. If you are planning a vaccation, you should choose another city such as Jaco or Uvita. Very easy to take a 2-3 hour bus shuttle from San Jose, terminal 7-10 for a few dollars.

This is the place to go to see the bioluminescent plankton. It was beautiful. The ferry ride was fun. We used Eddy’s tour. Puerto Jiménez served as a rest-over before going to, and when coming from a trip to Corcovado Nat'l Park. We were able to take and ride bikes from the hotel to restaurants and to look around (the walkway to the pier was torn up so we had to go the long way around and the bikes came in super handy). The staff was friendly and could answer all our questions.
