The staff was very friendly and helpful. I was particularly impressed by that the hotel provided a bagged breakfast for us before our early morning departure on an excursion to Machu Picchu. The hotel's regular breakfast also offered a variety of choices (breads, fruits) and eggs made to order. The location is only about a block from the main plaza, so you are very close to the main city attractions.

My favorite place in Cusco! The amazing women there treated me like family and gave the best advice. I enjoyed exploring this area of Cusco, and found many activities, cafes, restaurants, body work \ massage, and laundry service within a short walk of the hotel. None of my tour guides had troubles finding the hotel, either! The breakfast--- my absolute favorite and so delicious, made to order and at the time you request. If trekking early, can get a simple breakfast to go. The hotel also stored my backpack while I went on a 6 day excursion outside of Cusco.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Inkaterra La Casona Relais & Châteaux, and it truly exceeded all my expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm hospitality, which set the tone for the entire stay. The hotel is a beautiful blend of colonial charm and modern comfort. The interior is tastefully decorated with rich history, showcasing the unique architecture of the historic house while offering all the luxurious amenities one could ask for. The attention to detail in every corner of the property made it feel like a serene sanctuary. Our room was not only spacious but also impeccably clean and comfortable. The bed was plush, and we were able to enjoy restful nights surrounded by peaceful surroundings. The bathrooms were equally impressive, featuring luxurious finishes and all the necessary amenities for a perfect stay. One of the highlights of our experience was the service. The staff at Inkaterra La Casona were exceptional—always attentive, friendly, and eager to ensure our stay was perfect. Whether it was arranging a tour, offering recommendations for local activities, or simply ensuring we had everything we needed, their hospitality made us feel truly valued. Additionally, the location of the hotel was perfect for exploring the stunning city of Cusco. We were able to easily visit the major sights, yet it was a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle when we returned. The food at the hotel’s restaurant was another standout. The dishes were expertly prepared, showcasing local ingredients with a contemporary twist. Dining at the hotel was a true culinary delight. Overall, Inkaterra La Casona Relais & Châteaux made our stay in Cusco unforgettable. It is a perfect blend of luxury, history, and exceptional service. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area and

We had a very relaxing stay- we had planned for one night, but extended it to two nights as we enjoyed the property so much The rooms/cabins are very large/ Nice bathrooms and beds with patios We ate all of our meals there and enjoyed all of them (I am vegetarian and liked all of my options/ my husband who is not vegetarian also equally enjoyed the meals) They have a few activities each day, we enjoyed a short hike and learned about the local community, plants and birds In the afternoon, they have a nice tea time with small snacks- For planning- it takes 1.5 hours from the airport/ plan a ride in advance- it is about $50 for a couple from Cusco The local area has a few popular tourist places to visit though we did not take advantage of these as we just enjoyed staying there The Sacred Valley was an adjustment in altitude for us (we are from Nebraska) and it was nice to acclimate there, before staying in Cusco and ultimately hiking the Salkantay trail.

The breakfast was delicious and elegant. The staff members in the hotel is nice and I feel so welcomed while studying. Especially thanks Saul who taught me how to make Pisco, it was a great experience. Thanks Freddy and Jefferson who show me round the hotel and explain clearly about the history and amenity of the hotel. Jefferson also recommended me some places to visit and restaurants to dine in Cusco. All the staff are amazing, definitely best memories during me trip in Peru.

We visited the hotel for our anniversary and it exceeded our expectations. They surprised us with an upgrade to a suite which made us really happy. The staff was always smiling and helpful- thumbs up to Guido. The restaurant and breakfast were very tasty. It was like we were living in a museum, every corner was special. The location was also very central, 2 minutes walk from the main square of Cusco. Thank you again for this wonderful stay and we look forward to come back!

A visit to Cusco centers on its vibrant, historic core. Expect the area to be bustling, but the rewards are countless, from exploring the preserved architecture to dining at exceptional restaurants that highlight Peru's acclaimed cuisine. A quick tip for navigating the city: the heavy traffic means diesel fumes can occasionally be strong. Finally, take advantage of the superb shopping opportunities for unique souvenirs. You might even want to buy an inexpensive bag locally to handle all your purchases on the flight back.

Loved it! definitely worth the visit. We stayed two nights in Aguas Calientes. I wish I had stayed a door or two longer as the town is small but really lively and fun to be in. Also, we took a panoramic train from Cusco to Aguas Calientes and its definitely worth the experience. I will be journalling my experience, and provide tips in the near future on my blog so stay tuned: https://travelzbyu.blogspot.com/ For now, view pics and videos posted on my social media pages indicated on the link to my blog. - TravelsByU

Ollantaytambo is a gem of a town, my favorite so far of the Sacred Valley towns I have stayed in. The historic part of town feels like it must have felt with the Incas were living there in precolonial days. The streets are kept immaculately clean. Everything you might need is within short walking distance but does not intrude on the authenticity of the town. The views of the Inca ruins on all sides take you back in time. I would gladly go back for a longer stay. The constant flow of large tourist vans down the main street can be a bit annoying as they don't seem to belong, but you can avoid this. One great thing about Kamma Guest House is that it is not in the main stream.

Pisac is a great place to acclimatize if you are coming into the highlands from Lima or Amazon basin. It is charming small town with lots of historical interest. Archeological Pisak is well worth spending some time on. If you are looking to acclimatize to higher altitudes, Pisak is a better starting point that Cusco because the altitude is about 1500 ft lower and it is closer to Sacred Valley attractions.

City with great historical interest and gateway to Macchu Picchu. Very lively and busy place, easy to navigate for museums, restaurants with local Peruvian food, shops for good souvenirs or just people watching. Some parts are very hilly; cobble stoned pedestrianised areas were tough on the feet. Lots of peddlars selling local products but they do not pester you if you politely say no thanks.

If you can, see Machu Picchu early in the morn or in the late afternoon for best pics and fewest crowds. Take the bus up to Machu Picchu and then walk the stairs down to Aguas Calientes if you have 2 hours for the trek and strong knees/ankles to manage the stairs. Don't let travel agencies rush you from Cusco/Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu and back to Cusco in one day. Definitely spend the night in Aguas Calientes before or after your visit to Machu Picchu. The town has a lot of character and tremendous beauty. Lots of choices for dining, shopping and spas/massages. We wish we had stayed 2 days!

The Pisac archeological park is very interesting and takes 2 - 4 hours to see. Take the taxi up to the site and consider walking down back to the townsite through the park to see additional ruins. Several good restaurants and coffee shops in Pisac. Easy to walk anywhere in town. Central plaza is a pleasant. Short drive from Cusco, could do as a day trip.
