See the historical town center and go to long walks in the nature right in the city - either on Cozla hill, Pietricica hill or near the river Bistrita (highly recommended). Nice small town next to the Neamt old fortress, and in driving distance to around 20 old orthodox monasteries. Also the town of Romanian author Ion Creanga, in the Humulesti village nearby it’s his memorial house museum. For quick shopping you have local small shops and Lidl. Durau is a good location for tourists who come to go hiking on the mountain trails on Mount Ceahlău. Accommodation in the area is very expensive compared to the services offered. The services offered by hoteliers and other service providers are disappointing compared to the price charged. uCompared to Vatea Dornei where the services are at least 2 times better than in Durău. The hotel is very nice, there is a parking place just in front of the hotel. Around the hotel, five minutes walk there are a lot of nice places to eat. In the hotel is a good restaurant, too. On my next visit I will ask a room that does not has a view to the national road E85. I am surprised that even the rooms have nice big insulated glass windows, you can hear everything even the voices of the youth that are spending the night in the park in front of the hotel.
