In addition, the dinners were exceptional, food is cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. The location was a little hard to find because there are no signs on the road and the GPS sent us the wrong way. Once there, everything was great: the hut was clean and the basics (as is expected for a glamping hut) were there. The bathroom was very good, spacious, and clean. Breakfast (left everyday at 8h at the door of the hut in a picnic basket) was basic but very good. The main cable car up the Velika Planina is just a 10 minute drive away, and the views from the top on a clear day are breathtaking, and a MUST if visiting the area... well worth ther 26 EUR round trip! Make sure you also visit Ljubljana ... one of the most beautiful small capitals in Europe . It's just 45 mins on the train from Kamnik Graben, and a much better option than driving as car parking in the City is approx. 2.50 EUR an hour. The pizzas at Pri Cesarju in Kamnik are simply the best, and if you want a great burger then '7 Burger' just outside Kamnik is a great option. If you have a car go up to Stari grad nad Kamnikom for a coffee and spectacular views, just a shame that the viewing platform remains closed and inaccessible. The Pekarna Center is a great bakery in the centre of the town, which is opposite the Veronika Cafe which serves the best coffee and cakes! Slovenia is great.
Slovenia is great. Alps on the east, mediterranean sea on the west, same country, distinctively different climate on each end of the country. Beautiful nature, castles, lovely valleys with rivers and waterfalls, unspeakably beautiful historic castles etc. We stayed in Domzale only, did not go out to the city, but the location is great. Medvode is a small village at the confluence of the Sava and Sora rivers. Very nice town.
Very nice town. The downtown is interesting with all those bridges, including the Dragons' bridge. From the castle on top of the hill there is a unique view to the whole town (especially if you go on top of the tower). We had a lunch in "Slovenska hiša Ljubljančanka" which is not far from the bridges and provides very delicious kitchen and interesting interior. Well worth a visit if one is travelling about Slovenia. It has a nice old style town and within easy car distance are some great walks in the higher mountains. A beautiful, hidden secret. Everything from the pure cleanliness, to the feel of safety and social cohesion on the streets. I can't wait to go back. The best part is, everything worth seeing is so close - practically a short walk away - and it's SOOOO worth seeing. Probably the most beautiful city on earth (that I've been to, anyway). We came to Kamnik at the end of a two-week trip in Slovenia. We came mostly to see Velika Planina, which was worth it even if it was a cloudy, windy, and cold day up there. We stayed in Kamnik for two nights, leaving early in the morning to catch a flight on the last day. The Kamnik old town was very cool and fun to walk around for the old architecture. However, when we went (Fri-Sun in late September) almost no shops were open, which was frustrating because I could see cool handicrafts through the windows.
