The family room, the pool and the complimentary breakfast and how close it was to family and Apia city. The staff were very nice and patient at checkin. Despite it being half a medical centre and a hotel it was wonderful. I would definitely come back again! Since being in Samoa since the 09th have had issues with all of our accomodations. In the hopes of Alec's Hotel being our last accommodation before we departed, it was nice to finally feel that my expectations were met. Also thank you to Camilo for helping me get a bigger room for my family as I had originally booked a 3 bed room and for allowing me to take my kids early this morning to have a quick swim before leaving.

Brand new pods (2) located right opp the resort entrance. No clutter! I had the back dark grey pod which is great and has a spare room for luggage. The matrass was super comfy and clean. This is a place that does not smell of milddew nor had mold because it is brand new. I had a good rest as i was coming down with a cold from the relentless days of rain and strong winds (unexpected for May) Lunch and Dinner are a nice stroll distance to the resort (another of Ramo s tips!) where you can pay by card. 24 hr taxi stand is also only like a 3 min walk and they are good people. 20 tala to robert louis stevenson and 7 to palolo deep (can also walk 2km). Note that this property turned out not have facilities to pay by card on arrival as yet- so bank transfer to NZD account or pay with card through airbnb or being able carrying a few hundred USD in (Tala) cash is the way to go atm (May 2025). Ramo can organise a 2.30 am legit taxi pick up for you if you have that early 5 am flight out, so you can be assured and pricing is the same (90 tala). Malentino is an fab driver, can hold an interesting conversation and his van is clean, so it is comfortable to ride the 45 min to the airport. Best is the landlord Ramo with any help you need he will assist though whats app. Eg an umbrella for the rains or replaces a smelling blanket and as it was my birthday he offered to lend me one of his guitars and brought over the Sunday paper out of his own initiative, which was absolutely fab! Also brought over some fruits and gave me a lift to a place 5 min away which was soo kind! I booked 3 nights over the Mothersday long weekend and extended my stay with a night. I’m the first guest on through booking.com and highly recommend it! The pods is quiet at night and one can close the gate which adds to feeling of safety (I’m a solo women traveler).

We traveled around Samoa and stayed at 5 different hotels. No one could compare to the David Parker Ego Lodge Hotel, neither in terms of cleanliness, location, or service. There was a unique atmosphere there that you rarely get to experience. For me, who arrived by sea, it was a true releif to stay up in the mountain side where it felt cooler, away from the hustle and bustle, close to nature. We swam in a lovely cool waterfall that was located just below the hotel. The hotel's two lovely dogs showed us the way. It was incredibly nice. Each room had a balcony with the most beautiful view over a lush valley, and out ower the island to the sea. The rooms were simply furnished, and had a small kitchen. No one can compare to Lolita who runs the place. She is amazing. We felt really well looked after. She took such good care of all the guests, each and every one of us. What a loving fellow human being. We quickly felt at home, and chose to come back here many times during our stay, to treat ourselves to that little extra. They serve good food on the shared terrace, with the most beautiful view from morning to evening. In the evenings we could hear the geckos and crickets, and admire the fruit bats down in the valley as darkness took over the landscape. And it was absolutely fantastic to start the day there, with a good cup of coffee/tea and optional breakfast, while looking out over a valley waking up. The birds swayed on the buoyancy down there and it felt like flying with them. Very calming. It was optional to have the food served in the room or on the terrace, and we chose the terrace every time. Quiet and pleasant atmosphere. On the area there was sweet birds that looked like a Kiwi bird walking around on an extremely well-kept property. I thought there must be a lot of gardeners working here, but I never saw them. Eggs, pancakes or smoothie for breakfast, all with home-grown fruit.

Apia is a beautiful place to visit.

Apia is a beautiful place to visit. You should be prepared with an itinerary if travelling solo or as a couple, or family with small kids. Although alot of those of Samoan heritage would spend a bit of time with family. We spent a little time with family, and managed to visit my grandma's headstone and do up her floral arrangement and solar lights. The temperature I know alot of people would love. Its tropical, certain villages with white sand beaches are serene and tranquil. I will always make time to go back to my home island.

Lovely place, very interesting culture, hired a car, went to swim at Turtle Bay, drove into the town to look around. Bought food at some of the local food places, but the best food and price was the resort itelf. To get around one does need to hire a car, they are expensive however. But to get the feel of Samoa, necessary. There are cheaper places to stay, it depends on what you want. A beautiful new airport complements the island, previously was a tin shed but what was lovely about that was the welcoming group singing and paying guitars. Sadly that does not happen at the new airport

I was only here for one night, for proximity to my early flight the next day. I would probably stay a couple of nights if returning to enjoy the facilites and surrounds. However, it is a long way from the other sights on the island like the To-Sua Trench and Namua island. The drive to those is about 2 hours on the slow roads.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 Apia is such a welcoming and vibrant place. Even when I’m here for work, it still feels like a getaway – the pace of life is relaxed, the people are incredibly friendly, and the natural beauty all around makes every day feel special. There’s a great balance between local culture, good food, and spots to unwind. Whether it’s enjoying a cold drink by the water, exploring the markets, or just soaking up the atmosphere, Apia always delivers a memorable experience.
