From our arrival at the reception, the porter Sunshine’s friendly helpful service taking us to our beautiful accommodation, the plentiful supply of logs for the fire in our room, wonderful bath and toiletries and the delicious food both at dinner and breakfast the next day. The coffee at breakfast was the best hotel coffee I’ve had in a long time. The only disappointment was that due to load shedding we couldn’t use the spa facilities during our afternoon but I had a wonderful time using the pool , sauna etc the next day before walking back through the beautiful gardens before sadly having to say goodbye. The attention to detail left us wanting for nothing and we were absolutely blown away by the views, visible from everywhere in the cottage, including the shower! The braii on the balcony & watching the sunset over the mountains are truly highlights of a wonderful trip on the garden route. Close enough to Knysna for shops etc. but distanced enough to fully immerse and hear nothing but nature. Some amazing hikes nearby with waterfalls and streams to bathe in during the summer months. Knysna is a beautiful town and Holiday Destination. There are alot of attractions within close driving distance to visit i.e. Knysna Elephant Park, Monkey Sanctuary, etc. There are also alot of places to visit and explore in Knysna. We needed more time to explore everything, We will definitely visit Knysna again. Knysna and the surrounds are well taken care of and there was no littter that I can think of. The road going out to the heads is in desperate need of resurfacing. We loved the lookout points and scenery at the Knysna Heads. Great place for a week end especially in summer. Adequate shops, coffee shops etc. Nice fish n chips, restaurants and lots of lovely places nearby like Wilderness Knysna etc. Lovely drives up the hills. Views beautiful, riding bikes fine. A beautiful region, with excellent restaurants. The Grootrivier and (Western Cape part of) the Bloukrans River passes are exceptional, as is Nature's Valley. The Birds of Eden is THE world leading bird conservancy -- the biggest anywhere with free flying birds in a magnificent forest with a beautiful kloof, waterfall ,,, The nearby Monkeyland and Jukani conservancies are also probably the best in Africa. Natures Valley is very special.

Many establishments in the surrounding area do not allow dogs. So you can't eat in many places as no arrangements were made to accomodate dog owners. Some beaches banned dogs completely, even on a leash. I found this attitude very short sighted and unpleasant.Guest review byPeterSouth Africa - 10.0

Knysna’s geography is beautiful. It is built alongside and in places in a massive lagoon. There are alot of activities eg walking, scenic drives, boat trips, golf courses etc. The town and its waterfront has a large range of shops and restaurants. Plettenberg Bay is a fantastic town. It can get very busy in season but an absolute pleasure out of season. Beaches are exquisite and there are plenty of activities in and around for couples and families. Must recommend the Waffling Whale at Formosa - food is delicious and the staff are amazing. The number of bergies or street people hanging at the SPAR and surrounding area for the size of town was disconcerting. Nearly had an incident regarding the snatch of a cell phone.
