FAQs about hotels in Kruger National Park
Spectacular Stomping Ground of the Big Five
Covering almost 2 million hectares, Kruger is South Africa’s most important national park and is home to the Big Five: lion, African elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino. In the country’s north-eastern corner, by the Swaziland and Mozambique borders, it also sees giraffe, zebra, hyena and crocodile (to name but a few) grace its watering holes and rivers.
Of the 8 South African gates to the park, Crocodile Bridge Gate is closest to Marloth Park and Komatipoort, both housing a good selection of game lodges and hotels near Kruger National Park. To the west, the farming town of Malelane has its own gate.
Kruger Mpumalanga Airport is the region’s main entry point and nearby Nelspruit has the greatest concentration of luxury Kruger Park hotels on Booking.com. The Numbi Gate is around an hour’s drive away, via the town of White River. Also near this gate is Hazyview, while Sabie to the west is peacefully located by a river fed by waterfalls.
A waterfall also plunges to the gorge floor in Graskop to the north, while Hoedspruit is closest to the wonderful Blyde River Canyon. Ha-Lambani has the northernmost Kruger Park accommodation and Phalaborwa to the south has a park gate. Further south are the Timbavati and Balule games reserves, while Skukuza is in the heart of the park, near the main gate.

Nelspruit is a well run city, s gateway for anyone passing through to Maputo-mozambique, Limpopo, the Kruger Park. The one bad thing about the place is lack of taxi services like Bolt or Uber locally. One has to do with the local minibus taxis which do not always service some areas and operate at set hours. There are some operators but charge speculative fares due to the absence of app based taxis. I'm told this is due to minibus taxi operators blocking their activities. An example is going to/fro the airport which is problematic, or going to Maputo. There are few options.Guest review byZolaSouth Africa - 10.0

Hazyview is a very convenient town en route to the Kruger National Park and other attractions on the Panorama Route. It has all the major supermarkets as well as some great restaurants for a meal. There is plenty of accommodation in and around the town, for a single night to a longer period. Love visiting hereGuest review byManeshSouth Africa - 8.0

I did not stay at Hoedspruit - just used the airport for transfer to camps. The airport is very small and hot - no fans or air conditioning - but efficient and the staff is friendly. No problems. Very small shop. No cafeteria or restaurant.Guest review byNoorSherniNorway - 10.0

The trip was with wonderful the place looked exactly as the pictures, the place is clean and fully equipped in terms of cutlery and that made everything about the stay awesome. The animals coming to visit anytime was also a 100%.Guest review byNoniSouth Africa - 8.0
Nature is beautiful.
Nature is beautiful. Everything about Graskop is natural like God's Window, different waterfalls and so on. I had a great weekend and we couldn't visit all the beautiful places because of time.Guest review byPinkySouth Africa - 8.0

Not too far from the N4. About an hours drive to most attractions, like the Kruger, Lone Creek Falls, Lisbon Falls and God's Window. Graskop Gorge is also on the way to Blyde River Canyon. The scenery while driving makes the drive worth it.Guest review byJodee - 10.0

A nice place to be. Not enough for a short stay.
A nice place to be. Not enough for a short stay. There is so much to do and see if you visit a place a few days. The Kruger Park is within reach. The eateries are relatively a few km away. Rural but very nice experience for an urban person.Guest review byAbbeySouth Africa - 2.0
Phalaborwa as a town was a deep disappointment.
Phalaborwa as a town was a deep disappointment. The roads are in a very bad state and the general condition of the streets, pavements and rubbish lying around is a disgrace for the municipality. There are no streetlights working and the overall deterioration of the town is the last thing one wants to show overseas visitors. The tar road leading to the Kruger gate is obviously in a good condition but that is all. The Pick and Pay and the Spur are closed due to a fire incident and there are not a lot of restaurants to go to dinner for.Guest review byKarinSouth Africa - 6.0

It was great to see all the sights around the area such as Bourkes Potholes, Mac Mac Falls, Graskop & Gods Window which we hadn’t seen for over 30 years. However I wouldn’t stay in Sabie again & would have preferred a farm or country house to stay at.Guest review byRoySouth Africa
