We’re so happy we had the chance to meet Sarka and Putra—such great people. They’re doing an amazing job with their beautiful resort, and it really shows. We truly enjoyed our stay and hope to come back someday!

At the resort, the rooms are equipped with a wardrobe and a patio with a mountain view. Each room is fitted with a private bathroom and a bidet, and certain rooms at Gino's Place - Guest House & Jungle Trekking have a balcony. At the accommodation rooms are fitted with a seating area. We had a great two night stay! The room was spacious and the AC worked great. The staff were so kind and helpful. The food was delicious (we liked the curry best) and very reasonably priced. We also signed up for a one day tour with them and we had a great day with 5 orangutan sightings led by our guides Jojo and Aldi. One evening some local guys came by to hang out and play some music. It was great singing along and getting to know the people of Bukit Lawang! It was also great that this didn’t go on late into the night and we still went to bed at a very reasonable time.

The entire resort is beautifully manicured with fruit trees and flowers everywhere. Everything here is done with intention and love. The staff take great pride in their work. Aceh Heritage Village: Right when you walk in, you'll see two beautifully restored historic Acehnese houses featuring hand carved and painted decorations. This is totally unique on the island, and it's a must-see. Sometimes there are events there, so check with the resort to see about the schedule. The restaurant: The restaurant is stunning with an inviting porch that reveals the ocean and the lush landscape. The food is delightful with a mix of Indonesian and Western options. I am gluten free with a sensitive stomach. The restaurant always accommodates my dietary restrictions, and I always feel good after I eat there! If you will be staying awhile, you can even bring your own gluten free flour, and they will prepare something special for you. I love the ayam tangkap (an Acehnese specialty that you can't find many places on the island) and tom yum. The rooms: Every bungalow is done in the traditional Acehnese style with wooden carved decorations. My bungalow had a porch with a hammock which was the perfect place to relax while watching the ocean and listening to the sounds of nature. The bed was comfortable. The shower had hot water and it was easy to control the temperature, which cannot be said of many showers on the island. There was also a fridge and water dispenser in the room including hot water and china cups. The spa: I have had some of the best massages of my life at the spa here. My favorite is the Javanese. Masseuses are expertly trained and accommodating with any issues you may have. Friends of mine have had waxing done with excellent results. The beach: Great for lounging and a gentle swim.

At the resort, all rooms are fitted with a desk. With a private bathroom equipped with a shower and free toiletries, certain units at Playgrounds Sabbit Mentawai Surfcamp also have a terrace. The units feature a safety deposit box. I was very happy with how close it is to that water and the boats are moored right out front. Food was different every meal, a mix of Spanish meals and Indonesian and also some Italian. Paco was super helpful organising our fast ferry over there and back, the staff were legends too. Would recommend anyone to stay here.

Situated in Simeulue, less than 1 km from Nancala Beach, Momos Surf Shack features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant. The resort has a range of water sports facilities. The location is incredible, and Momo is always making sure guests are well taken care of so we can make the most of our stay. The food is delicious, and Gema, Tina, and the entire team are absolutely wonderful! Can’t wait to come back as soon as I can!

Few minute walk to Dylan's right. Great food. Motorbikes available for rent. Phil was a great host and showed us the surf spots. The cool and exciting thing about the island is you get a scooter and go find whatever wave you want. Find your own wave!!

There is free private parking and the property provides paid airport shuttle service. The staff at Awera are genuinely second to none. They are all incredibly welcoming, helpful and they made our stay what it was - the trip of a lifetime. Special mention must go to Un, Jupen and the activities team for turning me into a pro surfer, helping my husband catch the waves of a lifetime, and the epic snorkelling and mangrove SUPing. Justine was another stand-out; her positive attitude and thoughtful yoga sessions under the rising and setting sun were some of the highlights of our trip. Niko runs an amazing restaurant and the food put out by the chefs was out of this world (esp. the tuna tataki and mie goreng)! From an admin perspective, everything runs so smoothly at Awera. In particularl, the transfer service made us feel like vip’s and made for a particularly stress-free transfer experience.

Grace Wave Resort has an outdoor swimming pool, shared lounge, a terrace and restaurant in Hilibotodane. Boasting a bar, the resort is close to several noted attractions, around a few steps from Sorake Beach and around 1.9 km from Lagundri Beach. The accommodation features karaoke and room service. Staff here are lovely, rooms very clean, crisp aircon and comfortable beds. Hotel building and grounds well maintained, pool table and ping pong, great upper viewing deck for checking the surf. A short walk to the keyhole to paddle out access but when you exit the surf you’re right at the hotel doorstep for a cold beer or juice
