We were so hungry and right in front was a shack doing the best bacon butties & more coffee tea cakes etc Carl was great , it had everything there for us as we were attending a wedding at Gosfield Hall . Water & milk & cereals provided tea coffee etc . The bed was amazingly comfortable. It was perfect for us I didn’t want to leave

Situated in the quiet hamlet of Littley Green in the heart of the Essex countryside, The Compasses is a Victorian Pub steeped in history and tradition. With free on-site parking and free Wi-Fi access for all guests, it also offers a bar and a restaurant. Everything. Last minute booking (day before) nad we were delighted. Gorgeous little spot. The pub was fab, the meal was great. Room had everything - plenty of space and a comfy bed - all we needed for one night as we were touring the area. Have stayed in 15+ place over the UK in the past month and this was the best in terms of value and how nice it was.

It was lovely decorated room, the tv you could use your channels if you wished and could pull the tv out to watch in bed. Water biscuits and tea coffee in room. The toiletries I wouldn’t normally use but very good quality and smelt nice so I did. Very comfortable stay.

The White Hart is on the Essex/Suffolk border and about 10 miles from Braintree. It has 5 Gold -star awards from Visit Britain (Gold Award) and the AA. We liked everything about The White Hart. ALL staff were wonderful! All THE meals were incredibly delicious!! the portions were generous, couldn't eat everything even though we tried. LOVED the historic old age of the buildings.
