Shokinkan is a truly magical place operated by incredible people. Nestled in a gorgeous, ancient temple complex, the grounds are extremely fun to hike/explore during the day, with plenty of opportunities to learn about the history of the place through thoughtful signage and the wonderful staff. The food was absolutely delicious - we were eating a feast of unique foods specially prepared for us every evening and morning, which made the experience epic. Okami-san and everyone else here gregariously welcomed us with cups of beautiful matcha, and even shuttled us to and from Yasugi station and to the Adachi Museum of Art. I will never forget this place!

Located near Atagoyama Park and Hirata Honjin Memorial Museum, Nipponia Izumo Hirata Cotton Road is in Izumo and provides free private parking and a restaurant. Featuring a garden, the 3-star ryokan has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a private bathroom. Gakuen-ji Temple is 11 km away and Hamayama Park is 15 km from the ryokan. Having been to Izumo before and knowing it would not disappoint, I decided to take my family for another vacation in January. We stayed at Nipponia Izumo - Hirata Cotton Road for three nights. It is a former traditional sake brewery house converted into a kominka style hotel. Situated on a quiet historical sake and soy sauce business street, the hotel not only provided a unique home sweet home service but also amazing fine dining experience. Their in-house chef made each meal using local products to create feasts that delighted the senses. I highly recommend this hidden gem of an accommodation if you do visit Izumo.

The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. This was our fourth trip to Japan and we've stayed in many ryokans. This is one of our favorites. The space we stayed at was huge. It was a two-story stand alone building. The seats looked out onto the courtyard with a pond and a lot of trees, which was very peaceful. I'm usually not the type to stay in my hotel/ryokan all day, but this place tempted me to do so due to the serenity of the courtyard. There were two private onsen that were easy to access due to the small number of guests that stay here. The food was fabulous. While walking around one morning I found a hiking trail that led up to castle ruins. The next morning I hiked up to the ruins and down the other side and came out near the Moss Land.

The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. The staff were very helpful and pleasant, the food was among the best food we had on our entire japan trip. We traveled with one vegetarian and they were able to make great vegetarian food as well which we really appreciated! The inn was cozy and well managed and we had everything we needed. The location by the river and so close to Matsue Castle was also amazing. We can recommend this inn and Matsue city to everyone interested in seeing a different japan!

At the ryokan, units have a tatami. Complete with a shared bathroom fitted with slippers, all units at the ryokan have a flat-screen TV and air conditioning, and certain rooms are equipped with a terrace. At the ryokan, each unit includes bed linen and towels. This is a gem in the mountains not to be missed. There was tea and a snack waiting for us every afternoon in our room. We could see the beautifully carved temple and gardens from our room window. The meals were delicious! Many little dishes to make your mouth water served in our private dining room by the hosts who were exceedingly polite and friendly and explained what everything was. The baths could be taken privately with a partner. The bath was very clean as were the accommodations. A short hike to the top of the mountain gave beautiful views of the ocean and the Daisen volcanic mountain. This also went by the beautiful temple, which offers meditation sessions. There were two small stores nearby selling delicious sweets nearby. We cannot say enough good things about kouyoukan ryokan and it's hosts! A wonderful place to slow down and relax.

Hoshi Ryokan is set in Tsuwano, 1.9 km from Tsuwano Joushi, 37 km from Ikoji Sesshu Garden, as well as 47 km from Yasaka Shrine. This 2-star ryokan offers luggage storage space. Free WiFi is available throughout the property and Taikodani Inari Shrine is 1.2 km away. Excellent hosts Good food and large and confortable room As it was raining they took us by car to the station which was very close 100 meters !

The nearest airport is Yonago Airport, 22 km from the property. The breakfast was really good and the employees were kind. The small onsen was also geat-- it was clean. If you stay for more that 3 days you can get a free performance of a traditional Shimane instrument. The location is about 20 minutes away from Tamatsukuri onsen station but it's near a cafe and other restaurants.
