Despite the language barrier, our hosts were prompt in meeting our every need. Every meal was delicious and prepared with love and care. The sleeping area was traditional Japanese whereas the bathroom was modern, so we had both a cultural immersion and modern comforts. We were a family of 5 so we had the entire minshuku to ourselves. This is the most special stay we had in our 2-week holiday in Japan. There is something magical about spending the night in Ainokura, and we are thankful for having had the privilege.

The staff were professional and efficient, yet warm and welcoming. They helped to make our stay so memorable. It was our first experience in a ryokan and we loved the traditional room and the onsen. The staff kindly prepared vegetarian meals for us and they were so delicious. There is a small store at the entrance with local crafts available for purchase. The ryokan is close to the villages of Suganuma and Shirakawago. Thank you very much for such wonderful hospitality.

If you stay in gokayama, I recommend you should have dinner in booked hotel, becuz there is no restaurant open until 3pm...
