It is a very good place to stay. We liked it very much and we had a great time here. There are many things to see and Meema is a very good host. She also gives information about many things. The host is also a famous singer. He is called Guruji and he teaches many children about Tabla and music. He himself lives in South Africa, but his house is here. It was very nice to meet everyone and it felt like home. That is why we liked this place very much. We want other people to come and stay here too.

Absolutely phenomenal place. I felt very comfortable here. New villa, with swimming pool. Well equipment kitchen. The apartment was extremely clean. The welcome by the host was very nice. There is private parking on the property. Ideal for people who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. By car to the beach 10 minutes. The host offered a later check out, so I was able to work in super conditions, for which I am very grateful. If you need vegetables and fruits I recommend you to go to Goodlands village market. :)

The apartment is in the relaxed part of Calodyne with a beautiful garden, close to the beautiful beaches of the northern part of the island. The host, Gabrielle and her family are very kind and welcoming, they helped with everything and answered all of our questions. The accommodation itself is really nice, the interior design is thanks to Gabrielle amazing. She even has art books and travel guides of Mauritus in the house which was very helpful. There were some little animals sometimes in the house like spiders and geckos but they were also friendly. We got some fruits from the garden which was awesome :) Thank you for the amazing hospitality!

We can highly recommend Villa Island if you are looking for a good villa in quiet surroundings. You really get great value for money. The welcome was exceptional. Employee was waiting in the house when we arrived. Windows and doors were open, so the temperature was pleasant and there were fresh flowers. some food had been bought there, water and other necessities were in the fridge for the first day. Ani had even prepared a welcome dinner and set the table for us. As our journey to Mauritius had taken many hours, we were very grateful to be able to start the holiday relaxing. The house is in reality as the pictures show. Everything in the house worked as it should. WiFi is very fast. There is a table and 2 chairs on the terrace. There were extra towels and pool/beach towels. Cleaning was done during our stay. The house is located in an area where both locals and rental properties live. It is very quiet and the area is safe. The two shared swimming pools are cleaned. A car is an advantage in relation to shopping and excursions. Melville Public Beach is very nice. if you drive a little further and continue on the dirt road, it ends at a fine sandy beach. It is very beautiful and quiet here. Much of the time we were the only ones on the beach. Communication has been very good since we booked the house. Anaxi is very good at English and gave us the information we needed. In short, I definitely recommend staying in Shanti Nivas, I loved my stay there. Jay and Henry were very welcoming, helpful and overall great hosts. Their warm personality makes Shanti Nivas so exceptional. The rooms are spacious, airy, spotless clean and equiped with all the necessary amenities, including net against mosquitos (very useful). Balcony with outside seating area is again spacious and faces the beautiful garden Jay and Henry created. The garden is simply beautiful and it contains sizeable part of all Mauritian plant species (not kidding!), including impressive papaya tree and range of other plants, which attract fruit bats and various bird species. Definitely take the breakfasts, they are served in the garden and very yummy - selection of tropical fruits was lovely, but for me the special highlight was the omelette, the chats, and the red cardinal bird of course :) Also best value for money from the places we stayed in. The only thing to consider for pedestrian travellers is that the road to nearest beach or anywhere outside of the village is a for the adventurous folks as there is not much space for walking on the road and locals drive fast, but you can take local taxis/buses and if you have a car, this is no issue.
