Lovely and romantic rustic cabin away from the centre of town on the grounds of Middelfontein Farm. Everything you need for a comfortable stay is present. I was told to get some firewood but it warm enough without. There's no electricity but heaps of candles, an oil lamp and a powerbank would you need to charge a phone. The town is about 15 minutes drive and has all you need including a tire repair shop (which I needed after the beautiful drive from Calvinia). Nice hikes with lots of plants on the farm.

Perfect! Skooltjie Cottage aka ‘Tankwa Getaway’ is a unique property and perfect for hiking, birding or just to get away from it all. Hanlie and Thys were fabulous hosts, and made us so very welcome. Their generosity and kind nature was so appreciated, staying so far from home.
