Convenient location right next to the train station and a short walk to the chair lift, makes this hotel an ideal location for a short ski trip from Tokyo. The rooms were large, modern and spacious with lovely traditional details throughout, and great views across the mountains. The Onsen was beautiful and the whole hotel was very clean and exceptionally maintained. After finishing in the Onsen, the complimentary ice cream was a lovely added bonus. Would recommend to anyone visiting Japan for a luxury stay for a short weekend skiing!

The farm stay features rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. We had a fantastic stay in this beautiful, authentic old Japanese home. Its location is perfect for exploring the Echigo-Tsumari Art Festival, and there are plenty of onsens (hot springs) to enjoy nearby.We didn't even use the shower, preferring the onsens! ​The house itself is a hidden gem, a testament to the owners' wonderful aesthetic sense. It's filled with beautiful old and antique Japanese treasures. It is clean, well-maintained, and truly a piece of art in its own right. Above all, the owners were incredibly kind and helpful throughout our visit.

I had a wonderful time thanks to the hospitality and amazing support from the hotel owner. He helped me with transfer from the station to the hotel and was incredibly welcoming. The breakfast was very good. I really enjoyed my time.

The hotel has a karaoke lounge, a ski rental shop, and can assist with ski lesson reservations upon request. The food at breakfast and dinner was varied and exceptional. All of the dishes I tried I liked , and they had a nice variety of western and Japanese. The room we had was huge and very comfortable. The onsen facilities were excellent, and very well kept. We are skiers and this hotel was very well setup for skiers. They have locker rooms for storage as well as changing, and on checkout day you can leave all your luggage , go ski, come back and change and then leave. But what makes this hotel a standout is the staff. I speak limited Japanese but had no issues communicating with the staff either speaking directly to them or using google translate. They are kind, patient and will do anything to help you. On checkout day, we went skiing and came back at 11:30 and needed to use the courier service taqubin which is conveniently located inside the hotel gift shop. However, we failed to notice beforehand that the shop takes a close break from 11:30 until 3:30 and our train leaves at 3;15. We were very stressed but the lady who runs the store and handles the courier said no problem, she would stay open just for us and give us time to change out of our ski clothes ,repack our ski gear and come back. It took us longer than we thought to repack and change because we had some trouble locating the ski bag as it was behind the counter in long storage. It didn’t matter, she still waited and when we finally finished she patiently helped us with the forms and everything was handled . When we left again for the station we had some time to wait so we purchased some small sweets and went back to give them to the staff as a thank you for all their exceptional efforts and help with our stay . They seemed genuinely surprised and happy and then walked out to wave us goodbye! How nice and a great happy surprise for us! We cannot recommend this hotel enough and we will be back someday.

Hotel Shosenkaku Kagetsu is a 5-minute walk from Yuzawa Kogen Ski Resort and a 10-minute walk from Yuzawa Kogen Ropeway (Cable Car) Station. Free parking is available. The traditional style of the hotel was excellent. The whole place just oozes with relaxing vibes, the bedroom was lovely and clean - the beds very comfortable and the private Onsen is a must. Great staff too, so welcoming.

Just 3 minutes' walk from Akakura Onsen Ski Resort, Kogakuro Onsen Hotel is a 12-minute drive from beautiful Imori-ike Pond. It is a 15-minute drive from JR Myoko Kogen Train Station. Great place, superb staff especially Mieko who is fantastic.
