It's a proper old-school posh hotel. It's been modernised as much as it needs to be but it retains the polished wood and marble and the reception desk that's actually a desk rather than a counter. My room was enormous and had a full-size bath as well as a shower. The whole place was very clean. I regretted not booking for more nights the minute I walked through the door. Dinner was good and someone came at breakfast and asked you what sort of hot drink you wanted rather than you having to fiddle with one of those rubbishy machines that now infest most hotel breakfast rooms.
