All is cleaned and organized, we can easily spend few days with family and/or friends. Even have an outside balcony, garden side, both levels. Rooms are on the garden side, not on street side, so it is quite to sleep well.

The property owner is very helpful and friendly. Good communication before the arrival. She arranged dinner and breakfast (both delicious). Also arranged luggage transport to the next destination. It all went smoothly and effortlessly. It is possible to do laundry in the cottage. This might be handy after hiking at Kumano Kodo for couple of days.

The house is truly riverside. With the privacy of an entire house, a small patio and garden, it is a great place to relax. Exceptionally clean when we arrive. There is a supermarket within walking distance. The house was well decorated with good quality amenities. Walking the Kumano Kodo, it was right off the trail. Beautiful property, clean, great night’s rest, good dinner. It was on the pricier side of my cheap backpackers budget, but it was worth it. Probably one of the nicest stays in Japan.

This was hands down the best house I stayed in the 3 months I solo travelled Japan. The house is gorgeous and has everything you need. The location is not close from the trailhead of the Kumano Kodo but Shino (the owner) organized a free pick up to get me there the morning after. Also the fact that this house is immersed in the countryside made it such a special and unique stay! Words can't describe how incredible Shino is as a host AND as a person! Such a special one, who completely dedicates her soul to her job. The day I stayed in her house it was my birthday and the moment I told her she organized beautiful activities to make my day a special one. And she definitely made it!

    The house is located in a charming village and was an incredibly comfortable stay. Communication with our host was great and the breakfast with the delicious bagels she had provided was exactly what we needed to continue our journey fully recharged.

    Situated right at the end of the section of the Kumano Kodo trail from Takijiri-oji. Sen Retreat exceeded our expectations and we wish we could have stayed longer. We hadn’t brought any supplies with us on the trail and we were overjoyed to find the makings of a delicious Shabu Shabu (hot pot) including local boar meat. A lovely range of cold drinks, cookies etc was also appreciated. The house was warm, cosy and so stylish. The beds were comfy and we appreciated the robes.
