I was there to go to the cour d'assizes and travel around southern Normandie. The town was extremely walkable with delightful shops and everything you'd expect in a smallish French town. Les Deux Marguerite shares space with the Chateau des Ducs, part of which dates to the 12th century and has a lovely park. Don't forget Pedro's, the chocolate shop and tea shop where I took afternoon tea and met Pedro's wife and business partner, Huguette. Three generations of absolutely delicious chocolate. There's an impressive cathedral, the river Sarthe and La Briante, a delightful stream/brook that runs by the chateau de Ducs and Les Deux Marguerite. I really need to go back there.

This hotel is long overdue for an overhaul, room needs redecoration and updated facilities.
We have stayed here four times a year for at least 10 years as it’s so convenient for the A28. Perhaps it’s time to look for another option!

The cheaper accommodation is just that, cheap and cheerful.
The cheaper accommodation is just that, cheap and cheerful. However, the previous time I stayed in Alencon, I stayed in a very nice chateau right in the centre, at a reasonable cost. The city centre is charming/historical and there are plenty of places to eat/drink.

There was a very French enregy about the place with tree lined boulevards and pavement cafes. Numerous boulangeris and so no trouble if you are self servicing your breakfast. Plenty of restaurants to choose from and buildings of architectural interest. There was also the feeling of a university town.

A very dated hotel, room was smelling of damp and the table lamp and curtains were dirty. The hotel grounds were unkempt and in need of care. Disappointed as we have stayed a lot at this particular chain and have noticed a general decline in their standards.
On the plus side the restaurant could not be faulted food was excellent.

Hotel was within easy walking distance of the centre.
Hotel was within easy walking distance of the centre. St Therese's family home. Nice square near the basilica. Need to book ahead for restaurants to be certain to get a meal. Very nice part of the world with excellent motorway communications. Good place to stay before catching ferry back to UK.
The breakfast was phenomenal. The staff was warm and welcoming. The host was very helpful with accommodating my wife and me. The host went out of his way to find a wheelchair for my wife. And Stephane spoke perfect English. He also gave many good ideas about things we could go see in Alencon. The property is beautiful to walk. And it is nearby many amazing restaurants and beautiful churches. Of all of the things we saw and experienced in France, Les Deux Marguerite will always be cherished as one of my favorite places.
Easy to find location, lots of parking room, welcoming staff, quiet location and the room was easy to access from outside and had a good air conditioning unit to keep the room really warm when it was cold for us. The food and drink selection was quite surprising for such a hotel and the food really tasty. The wait staff were also very attentive and funny. The breakfast selection was also very good.
Perfect location. Who wouldn't want to stay in a beautiful park in a place that became home for me for a few days while I traveled around southern Normandie. Stephane Guy was a wonderful host and even offered to help me get to the gare d'Alencon. I hope to get back there. Oh, and I enjoyed the breakfast, delicious baguette, homemade jam and wonderful coffee. Gorgeous!
This hotel is well situated, our ground floor room was a good size, high ceilings and beautiful large windows. Very clean and well presented. The bed was very comfortable and the shower very good. The outdoor space and garden is a little haven. We liked the secure parking. The staff were helpful and approachable. We would definitely choose this hotel again.
The staff at Hotel Alencon were very friendly and welcoming and wanted to ensure a comfortable stay for us. The chef also made sure that I had gluten free options for breakfast, which I had requested. Breakfast was also well stocked too, and not too busy either. Our room was clean and beds were comfortable. Suitable for a short stop-over.
Have been to Campanile Alencon on quite a few occasions already and return each time as it is convenient for our route (just off the motorway), the price is good and the room offers wi-fi, the beds have always been comfy and there is either air con or heater depending on time of year. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Our hosts Josephine and Herve were very welcoming, and produced a wonderful 3 course dinner and breakfast! We would highly recommend this place to stay in, as a beautiful restored chateau situated in wonderful parkland. Very handy if you are travelling down to the South of France with proximity to autoroutes.
Lovely boutique hotel, beautifully restored. Very comfy room. Good breakfast. Very convenient location for walking into town. Stephane was a great host and we very much appreciated the welcome drinks at the end of a very long hot drive.
Huge quiet (second floor) room in old house with parking on site and a garden you can sit in; all rooms are large.
Very close too all amenities in Alencon which is a lovely town, which made a great stopover travelling through France.
Close to the motorway on the edge of town. A good place to stop on a journey. Good to have a restaurant on site so i did not have to leave the hotel after a long day's driving.
Pet-friendly and functional hotel with a kind host who stayed up to welcome us when we’d been delayed en route. Safe, off-street parking was very welcome and a nice breakfast.
