Lovely old hotel on a quiet street - about a 15min walk from the city centre. Comfy bed and nice amenities in room - tea, coffee, water, snacks etc. Very clean and nightly turndown service. Nice, bright room with a balcony overlooking the street. We were celebrating a birthday there and the staff went all out to decorate the room and add some extras to make it special.

Raise your wine glass and toast to the beautiful city of Bordeaux on the banks of the Garonne River. Having produced wine since the 8th century, it’s fair to say the second largest wine producer in the world is worth the trip for the vin alone. The city itself has spread outwards, rather than upwards, and the result is a very pretty town centre, filled with stone mansions and terraced housing comparable to Paris.
Cultured Bordeaux is filled with museums such as the Museum of Contemporary Art and Musee D'Aquitaine. The streets provide an equally interesting exhibition of fine architecture including the Victory Arch and the Aquitaine Bridge.
On the shores of the river lies the Les Chartrons district, which is a blend of ferry boat rides, picturesque views and buzzing nightlife while the pubs and cafes in the La Victoire district are frequented by students.
A tour of the famous vineyards is probably on the itinerary and this can be accomplished by visiting the wineries and châteaux privately or as part of a tour. You can also worship the wine gods at the Bordeaux Wine Festival held during the summer.
Visitors can easily make the short trip to the heart of Bordeaux from the Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport. With 70 hotels and bed & breakfasts available, Booking.com allows you to discover the vibrant and friendly heart of the vineyard region.

A fine area - can present a little intimidating to begin and you do cover a fair amount of the city using public transport. It is all very accessible with excellent transport links - use the Tourism office in the centre of Bordeaux to get a travel pass, tickets and consult the staff.
A really beautiful city full of medieval monuments, dedications to people who died in World War 2 for the Resistance, an amazing river, large buildings with ageing shutters, and really great wine readily available e

The appearance of Bordeaux is absolutely exhilarating with its miles of warm glowing limestone 18th century buildings. The number of trees and small gardens gives a great feeling, and the number of modern, quiet trams is truly impressive. Although visiting alone, I always felt safe and found locals helpful.

A week was the right amount of time because Bordeaux is not...
A week was the right amount of time because Bordeaux is not only beautiful, the locals are soooo much more polite than Parisians. They would literally walk up to. you to ask if you needed help to find your way around, just amazing.
Also, the architecture and history of this city is gorgeous. And don't forget the great food. I lived in Paris for 2 years and heard Bordeaux was Paris without the huge crowds and surely Parisians and that was the case.
The river cruise is nice to get a different view but the tourist bus was more informative and displayed much more obviously. The tram system is amazing. You can take it from the airport into the center but be sure to get the TMB app for your phone to buy and activate tickets. Don't recommend the tram if you have more than 1 suitcase. If you have an early flight, the trams start about 4am.
If you have to see the Louvre and other museums, etc in Paris, they are worth it, just be ready for horrid crowds and nasty shops and impolite servers. Understandably they are really tired of clueless tourists and just trying to make a living.
St Emilion is not worth the trip unless your aim is to buy some Bordeaux wine from the source but it's only wine shops every few meters. Make sure the weather forecast is good for your trip if you go because this is a small town you can walk and enjoy the scenery. There isn't much in the way of museums or tours. The people in the tourist office are multilingual and very helpful. The guides speaking rather poor English. The walk from the train station to the town is about 20-25min and slightly uphill.

There is so much history and so much to see, however the joy of bordeaux is you can do most of it on foot or a bike. You can literally walk everywhere in the old part of town or along the river in both directions.
It has the usual places to visit Museums, Churches, Gardens, Bridges, however i would suggest the following
Cite du Vin - Its epic and tells you everything you'll need to know about wine.
The Museum of Wine & Trade - An insight to early Bordeaux with a free wine tasting ;-)
Walk the River Promenade - Great at any time of day
The River Market on a Sunday - Has everything, Fresh oysters, Artisan foodies
Not much to dislike - except don't go to the Marche du Capucin after 12... we did and its an interesting area after its closed!!
I'd give the Intercontinental Rooftop Bar a miss too, terrible service, terrible staff attitude - not one I'll be racing back to.
So many eateries to try and for those that love shopping you will be in Heaven.

It's a great city with an excellent (and cheap) transport system. The CityPass is extremely good value for money and encourages maximum enjoyment of the many attractions. Must-see attractions include La Cite du Vin, the Base Sous-Marine (fabulous son et lumiere), boat trip and Pey-Berland tower. There are many good eating places - local brasseries/cafes with a good choice of menus. A lot of the food is meat/shellfish based but vegetarian alternatives can be found!

City was very quiet usually.
City was very quiet usually. The tram system and excellent buses meant very few cars around. I would describe Bordeaux as a very nice, clean, well organized, sustainable well run city with lots of designer shops and all the usual multinational chains. Wine dominates in Bordeaux like Golf does in St Andrews. The wine tour of St Emilion village and local vineyard showed how Bordeaux has become so wealthy over the centuries.
Really enjoyed the trip but probably not one best suited to a younger audience.
Probably won't go back, saw what we wanted to see in 5 days.
The hotel seems brand new and it is very clean. There are toiletries at reception and you can help yourself to shampoo, lotion, and soap which is really nice. The hotel is about 40 minutes walk from the city center which is fine for those who don't mind walking and there is also plenty of buses and trams to get you there. The hotel is very close to the main train station in Bordeaux. Staff are very nice.
Amazing staff who made us feel totally at home. Friendly and courteous at all stages. This is more a b&b than hotel as no reception desk etc but all the better for that!
Great location for city centre, trams and local park
Had pool to ourselves when used it after a day of walking Bordeaux!
Simple tasty breakfast and unlimited coffee in the morning!
It's a wonderful little old-school Hotel in the City Center of Bordeaux. It really feels nice to get a real key to open your room! It's located just a few meters away from the shops and restaurants, but the street of the hotel is very quiet. I haven't stayed in a property like this in ages, and at an amazing value. The "petit dejouner" was good enough.
It is a oasis in a bustling city, with its interior courtyard with roses and other flowers climbing the walls. An when you leave you step out and look left at the beautiful towers of the greatest cathedral in Southwest France. And with a top level boulangerie just a block away and a tram stop another block away. It's the perfect location in Bordeaux.
Outstanding boutique hotel that recently opened. Interior design is outstanding, beautiful, tasteful, and refined. The owners are artists/designers. Audrey, the concierge, was exceptional! Warm, friendly, hospitable, knowledgeable of Bordeaux. Offered great suggestions for meals and excursions! We became instant friends. This hotel is five stars!!!
Beautiful Townhouse that has all the comforts of a 5 star hotel. The hosts are warm and friendly and went out of their way to ensure that we had a fantastic stay. This truly is a gem and i cannot recommended it enough. Delicious breakfast served each morning. I will certainly stay again on future visits to Bordeaux.
We decided last minute to stay in Bordeaux and found this boutique hotel. It is incredible. The rooms are clean and “haute classe”. The service was amazing-excellent recommendations for dinner or lunch, things to see and do in Bordeaux! Kind touches like a written note each day. Highly recommended.
The hotel staff were very polite and accommodating - our room was perfect for an overnight stay - very clean and comfortable. The hotel is in a great location by the lake and next to the tram stop - frequent trams into the city centre for 3 euros.
Would thoroughly recommend it for a short stay in bordeaux.
Ideally located, in the center of a newly renovated and lively area of the city and very well linked to the Bordeaux city center by the tramway. The hotel is completely new, with a super cool and contemporary style and déco!
Great buffet style breakfast with lots of fresh products.
Hotel de Sèze is excellent. Staff is always friendly, happy, and extremely helpful. Close to all, easy access to Tram and shopping. Rooms are charming, exceptionally clean, and depict Bordeaux perfectly. We stay there often. Perfect place to stop after a long flight.
This a very beautiful property with exceptional service. Come here for the best service in France. Amazing suggestions and a top-notch wine tour. The rooms are new and spacious and have a spa bathtub. They received us with fresh fruits and traditional canele cakes.
It was just what we needed for a short trip in France. We wanted s hotel near de train station, to go to Arcachon and LA Rochelle. We were two people. The room was a bit small, but enough for us. Very kind staff and a very good breakfast.
We're so happy with our stay. Glad they finally open Meininger Hotel in France. All is designed to be functional. The bed is comfy, all is clean. They provide washing machine, pantry with fridge, play area, etc. Great concept !
Good and clean hotel close to the main railway station. Excellent location for travelers using train to places in the environs of Bordeaux. Good breakfast and very friendly staff.
Very convenient hotel for our last night in France, closed to the train station, clean, and pet-friendly. The reception staff are all very nice, professional and welcoming.
